I met Andy at the Portland Gas conference last summer. He had his spinning wheel along with a number of other remarkable pieces there. The video does not do the work justice. It is really innovative and original work. I cannot imagine the problem-solving curve it took to construct the wheel so that it actually works. Utterly amazing.

We should all be asking ourselves that question: "WHY"?

It IS beautiful - but..... is it made solely for art's sake?

Clearly it is impractical to use as a functional spinning wheel as my friend said when I showed her the video. She spins wool, from sheep she raises, into yarn and knits sweaters with the wool.

    Just wondering.

that black sand didn't come from the beach on Hawaii's big island, did it? Taking that shit is bad luck. I kept a jar when I was a kid, and my whole family was forever changed. If thatis where it came from, then you'd better send it back! Seriously!
    Peace,
    Mike
