Default 1.5" and 2" Infinite Rim marble mold

Are these worth it? It has both sizes on the same handle. Am I better off just getting the separate ones or will this do?

Drew designed the infinite rim and Dan Grumbling makes them. The mold in question at ABR is made by Dan and works well. But personally I prefer the separate mold for each size. Sometimes I use the bottom of the molds for shaping and with the 2 in 1 there is a hole.

I agree...I'm not a fan of the holey bottoms.

The bump style marble molds look kinda groovy.....Why would you want a hole in the bottom of your marble mold?

you don't want a hole in the bottom.... not ideally.

It will still work on the size marbles it's made for, but you don't get a bottom for shaping smaller marbles....

I have both sizes as separate molds, wouldn't consider that an "upgrade" at all, it's more of an economy issue if anything.

Also, I use water in my molds quite often, so that would be worthless then.

love my 2 in one .... very slick movement when shaping marbles that are 1.5 inch plus... use the large to get things shaped and then the smaller the crispen the edges... 2 in 1 is worth the pennies for sure!

I can't speak from experience using this mold but I find myself using the bottoms of my molds often. I'd get separate ones

I own that one. I have a regular marble mold that I use when I make smaller marbles, but that isn't very often. The 1.5" measurement is the widest part of that side of the mold. I can shape 1.25" marbles in it no problem. If anyone has my book, I use that exact mold quite a bit in the book.

It's well worth it I think. I can think of one or two times I wish it had a bottom, but I've made hundreds of marbles since I got it, so I think that's a pretty good ratio.

having the solid bottom means you can use it to push spirals too. With the hole you risk smooshing the glass through.

I've got a fritts 4 in 1 for what it's worth. It was an upgrade from ABR's 3 hole mold, which is nice too, but the Fritts model was worth every penny.

That style of mold works exceptionally well making big paperweights/marbles in the hotshop....rolling it back and forth on the bench and holding the marble mold in your hand.
