scchweeeeeet. What have you made with yours, Big Jay? I'm always looking for inspiration. I wanna try some of the tips Sky gave me about a drill press and a washer.....for making MIB molds. And maybe one for making spinning tops.

I just use mine for marvering pads. I actually bought them to make a mold but greymatter (doug) talked me out of trying it. Eventually I am going to replace a couple of my shapers though with this stuff.

This is what I've made with it so far, a v-marver, with a curve for large diameter tube, a 2-sided small marble mold, and a 4-1/4"x4-1/4" flat marver. I made the marble mold on my wood lathe, and Believe it or not I used a nickel, and a dime for the cutters, so if your wondering how big the marble mold is just go get some change and measure the diameter of a nickel and dime, but their not exact, because of sanding, and how I had everything set up on my lathe.

I cut it to thickness and noched the V, and C out with my bandsaw. I recomend you use a bandsaw that isn't used for wood, because any wood cut after will be black when your done! I put the edge on it with a metal file! Deside your angle, and start filing, my angle is about 20-25deg. Just pay atention to how close you are to the center. I left about a 32nd of an inch of flat that I rounded off. If you try the round profiled part, pay atention not to gouge the graphite with the edges of the file to bad, but a little wont hurt cuz it will sand out. It cuts like butter, and files like chocky alumanium! It takes a while, have fun!

Friend, I'm sure if your tools are up to scratch you will find plenty of folks on here willing to support you.

    Thanks!
I got home from my class, about two hours ago and thought,"Hell, I need to make a initial stamp!" The pictures suck cuz my phone can't take up close pictures. I carved it by hand, with some wood carving tools I made a long time ago that don't carve wood well at all, so now they are my graphite carving tools! The actual JB part is about 1/4" tall, by 3/8" wide, and the rod is just over 1/2" square. I put a curve in it to hold on to. It's not perfect, but I've never hand carved letters in graphite before, so I'm happy with it. I think the thread about Sig Stamps is what got me going on this one.

Dorkeedude, get some of that tooled graphite sold, I'd love to see how that stamp works on glass. My bet would be that it might work for 104 but would be too indistinct for 33. Hope I'm wrong, though.

Actually I've only had so much time to work on graphite stuff, because I don't have everything I need for my glass setup at the moment, but I think I will soon.

bracelet and ring mandrels, long paddles, stack tools, parchoffi sticks.....

these are all just things i need/want. i'd really be interested in a tapered cone like thing with a handle. i've got some more ideas which might need blueprints, but for now i'll keep thinking.

    keep it up, looking good.
