Re: steaks thread - newbie progression
The difference is your trying to push the pattern to the front without imploding the center as it will disort the lines and make it look less clean. When I do this it also has a lot to do with the angle you hold it at.. I try and keep it horazontal, instead of holding it at a 45 degree angle. Just my two cents

Re: steaks thread - newbie progression
hi i just got my new paragon kiln its a small model
i have burned it in yesterday, so it is ready to run
i dont know now wich cycles to run
at wich temperatures to hold and garage and at wich rate to cool down and hold and when i want to use prepwork at wich rate to heat it up
i understand how to programm it it is queit simple as i could see in the manual
so now i really want to try out working with it, but because i dont now the specific rates per hour and stuff i cant
i want to do pipes pendants and small fudurines , riff scenes , my kiln also is only 20X20X20cm
would be really cool if somebody would help me
kind regards frank

Re: steaks thread - newbie progression
You can garage your work from 950 degrees to 1050. Annealing times depend on the size, check library, if you are working small pieces and pendants- an hour soak time then turn it off, should be fine. If you are trying to fix a crack ramp your kiln up to 1150 and soak piece for 5 min. then hit the crack from the start and melt to the finish, good luck. Peace!

try and make some goblets and oil dishes maybe. do tons of reversals n shit, thats what i do. i dunno, if you wanna get fancy, make a lil color design cup and blow another one into it with a lot of clear in it, and produce a double layer thingy. kinda rad. try and make a donut, thats fun

Re: steaks thread - newbie progression
my girlfriend says the teeth look stupid, i like them
what do you think?
haha
-
Re: steaks thread - newbie progression
although turtles dont have teeth i do like them, cleaned up a little more and they would be a cute little addition, try laying a single stringer of white, mashing it flat a bit after meting it in a little. then take a knife or a razor and heat up the stringer and press lines for the space between the teeth one my one. ive never done teeth but thats just a simple way ive seen them done.
