hi
So my name is Quinn. I've been around here for a little while but never made one of these introductory posts. I have been friends with lampers for the last 5 years or so. After a deal to be taught lampworking fell through, one of those lampers [Akarion, douche] decided to steal 2 grand worth of shit from me. I seperated myself from that crowd for a while.
Then I met this dude named Jeff slingin pipes on the streets of Asheville. I bought a pipe to support him and talked to him about a couple custom pieces. After chilling in his studio tent, he agreed to let me use his Natty to try my hand at it. After a couple tries I was able to make a real live pendant.
At that point I started buying all of my equipment. As soon as I had about 90% of it gathered Jeff had to move to the beach. I intended to set my torch up in the basement of my rented house in Asheville, but it was infested with wasps! Considering I'm deathly allergic to them my studio setup had to wait.
After I graduated from college this past May I was set to move to my parent's house in Ohio and blow glass in their garage. At the last second I got a call asking me to work at a theatre in KY over the summer. I decided to go for it to raise some more money to invest in a larger torch.
After a hellish summer in KY I am finally in Ohio and ready to start blowing glass! We decided to build a shed studio in the backyard instead of modifying the garage. My Dad and little brother built the structure while I was in KY, and we built the bench and the barley box yesterday. It is about 98% done! I should be melting glass by this time next week!
Oh and I met up with Ari [intrepidglassworks] at his AMAZING shop the other day. While there I bought a CC for a killer deal! Now I'll be able to go a bit bigger than my Mini CC is capable of.
If you read through this sorry for my rambling tendencies! Thank you all for the knowledge, this site is an amazing resource!

Make sure to start a progression thread!
I plan to. I'm going to keep a record of every piece I make. Picture of the piece with notes on colors, and techs used. Also date created and amount sold for and where. I want to be able to look back on any piece I've made. This will also help me keep financial records up to date.

When you really start rockin out prodo, that might be a little time consuming. That is, if you plan on going full time. Or having a prodo line. I keep track of every piece sold, and to where, but classify things into easy to swallow categories (e.g. fumed 22mm spoon, colored 12mm hitter, etc.)
Notes on techs and colors may fade over time, but I intend to keep up with logging every piece. I atleast will keep logging price, date made, date sold, and taking pictures. Good record keeping is key IMHO
