They look like kiln brick. Apparently they are easy to make but the initial mold/die/whatever it's called cost over 60,000 bucks. They were shipped from Mesquite Monday, hope they would be here yesterday, they have to come today for sure. When I get one I will take close up pictures and post them here.

And everyone who is ordering one, be sure to pick up some kiln shelf paper or you won;t be able to play with your new toy. I almost forgot myself.

They are vacuum formed rigidized fiber. Then the inside is coated with the silicon carbide. I don't see why you can't use kiln wash insted of fusing paper. Kiln wash is cheap and readily available from your local pottery supply house.

Here's the PDF from paragon. They also suggest kiln wash which will be easier to find for most.

Ok...I actually got them all home and checked out box sizes. From the USPS priority mail the kilns are $10.70 which I rounded to the $11. It is my preferred way to ship and that way everyone knows what shipping is regardless of location. I don't care how you pay me, check or paypal, but I will be needing money before I mail anything out. I already have boxes ready to go.

I have just a few left unclaimed. They are $141 including shipping, or $131 including shipping if you give me a glass gift of some sort. Small pendant or such for my collection.

about kiln was instead of kiln paper:

i don't know how this will be for boro, but i can share my experiences with kiln wash and bullseye. here's a link for the work i did. glass parts are about 14" for scale

    http://www.rjasonhoward.com/Gallery1997.html

you CAN use kiln wash, and it CAN give good results, but that was on mullite shelves (not sure what this stuff is), and it had to be very smooth. to get it smooth you have to let it dry just enough so it leaves no fingerprints, then sand with an open palm.

if it fires a little hot, it will stick and you will have to get it off. plus you'll have to reapply very often (aka alot of work). that kiln paper is pretty cheap an easy in comparison, though gross like fiberfrax (wear a dust mask when handling). on a plus side, the kiln wash can give the best surface if done perfectly. only it seems that it's a one time shot.

hope that helps a little, i can be more specific if needed

Ok folks...I have been paid for seven kilns (six really but I trust you Jason)...and most of those were not people who said they wanted one ahead of time. I love all of you dearly, but I am not going to hold on to one for anyone, unless I have told you that individually. And I don't think I have told anyone but Craig and
Bumble that. So better bring it if you want one. I have 11 left. And there are 7 of you on the preorder list that I have not heard from.
