Boro Supplies in MA?

Anyone know if there is anywhere in MA to get boro and supplies? I know there is that place in somerville that rents work stations, wondering is they sold glass also? Any leads would be appreciated.

the hempest in north hampton sells some supplies, and trades some glass for supplies sometimes.

my friends and i are about to order some schott clear to be shipped freight either this week or next if you want to get in on some cheaper shipping

When was the last time you talked to anyone at the Hempest? I called them awhile ago (The Northampton store) and they said they did not sell any supplies, although the woman I spoke to didn't sound like she knew what she was talking about.

It's too bad there aren't more stores in the area, all I can seem to find are stained glass supply places.

I was there 6 months ago and picked up some tube, prices aren't bad, and they did say they would trade for finished pieces if they weren't stocked. It's in a side room on the back right side of the store, just go to the register and tell them you are looking to buy some tubes or rod and they should bring you back there, they didn't seem to just want you to go walking back there unsupervised. They had some cobalt tube back there too.

oh, they had color rod too, didn't really check it out, cause i wasn't looking for that, but good to know it's there...

Sounds like the girl I spoke to, just didn't know what she was talking about...I'll have to stop by there next time I'm out west.

Let me know how that goes. I've traded bunch of prodo for glass at the hempest over the years. Called like two weeks ago and the girl working told me they didnt do that anymore. I thought it was kind of odd since they recently expanded their pipe selection to that back room...

I assumed she was just Sunday night help and didn't know what she was talking about..since I didn't recognize her voice.

they moved all their glass into the "stock room" so it's not visible when you go in. you have to walk into the back of the store and go through another door to get to it, this includes their retail as well as their raw glass. i've gotten some really great deals from them over the years, i stop in twice a year-ish after the festivals in greenfield.

I'd like a shop where I could pop down for a pound of something I'm out of and need in a hurry, but I think most folks just buy it online to cut out yet another middleman.

It would be nice to have a place where you could buy a rod of something and try before you buy though.

50x5 and other randoms... monstly 50x5... prob plenty of rod... old tube pulls... honestly i cant even remeber how much i left behind... i was planning on comin back in a month or 3 from my original date of leaving..

I'm one of the people in somerville. In general, there isn't anyone there selling glass, but there are a few people there that have glass and probably wouldn't mind sparing some. Probably not much color, but a good selection of clear. I have a bit more than a case of old UST 50x5 that I'm looking to get rid of, and would sell a case for $1.50 a pound. I also have a bunch of old first(mostly crayola) that I'd get rid of pretty cheap, some disco sparkle odds, and some other stuff...........................

Sorry to bust in on your thread, but I have to vouch for The Hempest in Northampton, thats my hometown and I bought my first torch at that store. although I havent been back there for a year or so, the last time they had tons of color (rod and frit) and lost of tubing and rod, and were down with trades.

I thought they had a store in boston too, no??

I'm down to split future pallets & cases with people in MA if it's convenient to the Boston area. I rent out of a commercial building so that helps save money on shipping. I ordered 10 cases of Pyrex from wale last year when they had their 40%-50% off tubing & rod sale.

I would like to start getting cheaper cases of cobalt & black tubing. I have some major projects in mind so I'm gonna need a bunch.......when I have the cash of course. Also I'm always down to just split cases, pounds etc...
