~Wanted~ large ground glass joints

I want to make some jars with ground joints but cant find any large enuf. Seems like everyone carrys the standard 14 and 19.... but I could use some maby up to 25mm+-, I dont need a specific size Just larger ones to play around with.

If you know a good source or have some you could part with let me know.

Looks like UST carries a few larger sizes. That sheet is a bit confusing, I'd just give them a call. 1-(877)-UST-Glas

ABR is quickly droping off my choice list unfortunatly. I keep giving them chances, and I prolly will still do in the future. But I am starting to become quite loyal to MGA they are awsome.

what makes it "fancy"?... its 50mm wide at one end... but not 12mm on the other.. Could you explain the diff in this, thanks

I think he means it measures 50mm at the biggest diameter and length of taper is 12mm but I could be wrong due to quite a lot of stout.

yep, the measurements of standard tapered joints refer to the diameter and length of the ground surface (in mm).... your probably looking for 24/40's or 29/32's? Try VM glass; http://www.vmglass.com/view.php?id=5

Be careful with those glass jars with ground joints. You might have some folks start complaining because in my experience I have seen a number of them get jammed pretty easily and the exact same size 50/12. Don't get me wrong, they have a great clean look, but all it takes is one dumb friend, a twist, heat or liquid and you have the worlds most depressing piggy bank scenario. But I would love to see what you make if you end up making some, because they are nice and all, just sometimes finicky.

Yeah I thought about that.. my intention isnt really for resale at first. I want to bring back that old "apothecary" look and feel with a new boro twist, fully worked. I love jars w ground joints scientific and old school i have a small collection and pic them up whenever they are cheap.

i use those 50/12 joints for jars and no one has complained yet about them sticking. Although i have had a few get pretty stuck while making them. Gotta tap them with a glass rod to viberate the joints out.
