Re: Internation Glass Expo photos
I saw enough electroformed to death / eyeball and teeth pipes to get me through the next ten years, same with janky dishes and dabbers.
A few booths had groggy vendors that only knew how to say " I'm sooo hung-over, brah" or "I don't know how much that is, the dude's out back right now."
A few booths weren't even set-up at noon and the show opened at 11 am.
Couldn't believe the frit ISO spoons going for $75, anything Graal on a spoon,$100. Ridiculous.
Or the dude tapping his ISO spoons on a plastic table to show how strong they were.
I was impressed by Zac P, Ghost, Freeek, Swiss Perc, Carlson, C Cody and a few others.
I'm sure the after-parties and demos were better than the show itself, but I had to pass on that.

I like wig wags .... I do agree though people are electroforming everything to max 10. I kind of dig it some of that stuff but people are really cashing in on beating that technique into the ground fast. Whatever I guess, if I could be pulling 3000 a tube with some copper on it, I would do that all day every day too.
That sounds like a pretty weak show though according to Fred though.

Very weak showing in my opinion as well. Anything that is promoted soley through toke city is to be avoided unless its in the virtual world... a little advertising in LA would have helped

Re: Internation Glass Expo photos
First of all.... you could see the extreme effort put into this -- getting the people they did and the location they did BUT Fred is on point.
One major issue I heard from vendors was the lack of people and promotion. Almost all I spoke with agreed that there was not enough advertising. You could tell vendors were not happy by their demeanor.
The best was.... on Saturday, there was a diabetic convention around the corner. As I was leaving, a vendor was trying to persuade a lady holding "Check your blood" bags stating that a 14" bong with 2 percs would relieve her pain and help her diabetes.
Anywho......I do think these guys are onto something. With some advertising other than the internet would be helpful. Getting the regular public in the doors and into the vendors wallet is key. Also it was nice to see Blastshield and ABR there. Not sure where N.star was I guess I missed them. But I sure as hell didnt miss G. Alchemy. WTF was up with their setup?!?!?!? I rolled up there with $1500 cash to lay down on some deals. Glass, tools, and anything that I dont need but got a good deal on. Didnt happen. I walked with a wobbly tungsten pick for $10.............good times.

Re: Internation Glass Expo photos
Yeah, and WTF is up with being denied entry to the "back" area? I had my seller's permit, business cards and my business credit card. Shouldn't that have been enough?
I also walked in there with some dough, thinking I was going to score me some gear. Not pipes, I wanted tools or a torch.
I didn't find ANY lampworking tools for sale.
Where was ABR set-up anyways?
I DID see Abe, but he was busy setting up a Herbie, and I couldn't even catch his eye.

Re: Internation Glass Expo photos
ABR and Blastshield were both there. They were in the wholesale section, or the "back section" if you wanna get silly about it. I know they were being strict on letting people in without a laminate.

Re: Internation Glass Expo photos
Nice pipes by Jag...I liked the gums of the teeth pipes...So crazy inline stuff going on...awesome glass pencils (I'm gonna make one today).... thanks for all em pixz!
Didn't see any ultra micro mini crucible dipping kilnz yet...Like one the size of a square foot would be cool.

Re: Internation Glass Expo photos
Well, as the yahoo who was banging his pipes on his table to show sturdiness, there was definately a lack of quality pieces at affordable pricing.
Crowd could be better, but it that *Huge* cavern, it really looked dead.
ABR was right on the open side where they were demoing glass. I am surprised that you missed it. Also, since Ross was right by a curtain fence, people were dealing with him without ever being in the "back section."
I can see this show getting big.

Re: Internation Glass Expo photos
Awesome video! I have to agree, it does look a bit empty inside. Well, except for all the artists on the torches keeping it HOT! Killer lathe action shots. Who is the girl with the orange hair? Also, who made that black and white section with the Chinese lady smelling a flower it looked like ?
Just found this video
