working tektite meteor glass
anyone know about working with tektites? i been makin pendants out of them, im wondering about their annealing temperature, they melt at a higher temp than boro. also i discoverd its great for pulling a rod and using that rod for gold fuming. i cant seem to get gold to stick to quartz, and it doesnt melt as easy as boro, so there u have it.

Re: working tektite meteor glass
Tektites are all going to be different COEs, melting temps, etc. Depending upon their origin, they each have a different chemical makeup. Some could be dangerous to flamework (explosions from air pockets, etc.)
Have fun!

Re: working tektite meteor glass
what kind of tektites there are different kinds...??the only kind I've ever melted was moldavite and I just worked it like a super stiff color and annealed like normal work...I know a guy who used to melt all kinds of black tektites down but that stuff puts off some nasty off gases and he always wore gas mask when melting it
