    Default Craigslist Score

Hey GLDGers, just wanted to make sure you all have been on top of your local Craigslist for supplies. Ever since this thread by Maestro "Here's a Hu$tle you can try." (<--- that's a link) I've been checking on Craigslist once or twice a week for oxygen tanks, welding supplies, etc. I didn't remember that he put an ad up saying he wanted to buy them where I've just been searching for them (I think I may actually put up an ad after reading that again, lol)

Anyways, past oxygen tanks I figured I might as well search for "glassblowing". Sure enough an entire shop was for sale but the guy never got back to me. A real shame because it was an awesome deal.

Then this past week, I search "glassblowing" again. No entries found. Then I figured, I've never searched for "lampworking" before, why not?

Boooom goes the dynamite! "Pyrex glassblowers special". It had lampworking in the actual ad; Always search without the suffix ("ing", "ers", etc.). Had I typed in "glassblow" I would have found it on my first search.

Anyways... We picked up everything pictured, plus a box full of tools, good bit of color/frit/powder, 3 full 38mm rods and other assorted punty.... for $200

Retired adult toy maker turns lampworker's Santa Claus

Keywords: glassblow, lampwork, weld, oxygen, regulator, etc... Am I missing any?

Thought I would post this up as a friendly reminder there are some screaming deals that pop onto craigslist. Thankfully there isn't but a couple people here from the PHX area so I'm not worried about you guys being my competition haha. Happy hunting!

I always search random words like kiln, torch, oxygen, stuff like that. I find the more general you are, the more likely you are to find good deals. Sometimes people know its a kiln, but no idea what kind or value. Good find!

Craigslist ftw! Found my first torch (Carlisle cc), about 30 pounds of color and a few cases of simax clear tube and rod for 1500.

Just recently found a paragon f120 in perfect condition for $400.

I had to drive 250 miles eah way for both deals but totally worth the day.

That's legit; I was wondering if there was a way to search multiple areas at once. Sometimes there's deals so good crossing one state line doesn't seem like a big thing (not often tho)

Yeah Chris, Caleb told me you wanted those. Sorry BeeRyeOne, they're spoken for.

Kiln was one I was missing haha. There's a ton of cheap kilns out there but I have no idea which ones are worth looking at, if a controller could be installed, etc.

Yep great deals of you take the time to look and travel.

Found a large (17w x 22"d) paragon kiln fired twice for 175. part of an estate sale. Had to pick it up that deal and was only an hour drive- made a trip out of it and took the family to the zoo.

Kilns are always on there, most are poor condition but there are gems out there too.

My friend in Fort Collins found a brand new $300 fusing kiln for $75 on Craigslist last year. Definitely some good deals to be had - people often have no idea what to do with old fusing and ceramic equipment especially and sell it for cheap.

Nice score bud. Did it come with a chrome case? Is that my homie with the uzi protecting my money counting machine in the back, You Know!. Nice bike too. I prefer to get attention riding my bike by screaming obscenities, cracking jokes, and talking jibberish. Sometimes you just need to get out and get crazy, it's way funner than pretending to be sane.

The adult toy maker was damn nice to ya!

I'll vouch for Craigslist too! I was looking for a kiln to house components in ... I found a $7000 kiln for $50 bucks ... cost me more to get it in the garage ... had to rent a truck with the forklift, was still on the OG shipping crate ... long story short .... a lady bought the building and a storage container came with property, the kiln was way in the back ... she has since moved and now is wanting to move the container so she's letting it all go ... it's been sitting there on the shipping crate in plastic for some 10 year + 8) Just never know what's out there ...
