Coolest news ever!!!
i'm pleased to announce that i will be coordinating the flame-off aspect of the Glassroots show this year. spiralout has started a solid show with top talent and impeccable ethics and i'm thrilled to join the team that makes the whole show come together.
this years competition will be divided into a couples collab event and a team latheworking event. we already have some of the roster filled but if you have interest in competing in either of these categories please contact me through the private message system here by the 15th of this month (this coming monday).
here's to glassroots 2012!!! it's going to be epic!

I am very much looking forward to being there this year. I'm not even sure how much a booth costs, and I'm definitely not good enough to compete in the flame-off (nevermind that I didn't see the invitation until a month late). But I was there in 2010 and god damn if I didn't see some of the most mind-blowing glass creations I never thought possible. I had been working in glass about eight months or so, and every idea I had about what glass could and could not do was just blown wide apart. Great work, everybody who was there, keep it up. Let's see exactly how far we can push the envelope this year.
Glassroots is a great show, congrats Mer! Looking forward to this year. It's going to be super mega awesome and a HALF.
wow, lathe working teams? that sounds epic...wish I could make it.
that lathe event looks sick!!! go luke and hops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I've never been, and I just checked out the website. ...Is admission free? For the whole she-bang?
"Badger, my ass; it's probably Milhouse."
It looks like there are tickets this year. Here's more info:

Ah yes, that's what I was looking for. Thanks!
To those of you who have attended: What's the capacity like (can it "sell out")? Advance tix, or at-the-door cover? And must you pay for each event separately, or is there an "all-access" type ticket?
Thanks again for the info.

This is the first year in this format, so I don't know if anyone can answer those questions until this one has went down.
Well, actually, Spiralout can probably answer most of them other than the "will it sell out" one.
I'll let Mer and Spiralout tell you about it....

Mer and i are hashing out all of the final details and will be making all the announcements you guys are looking for.
Are there vendor booths still open? And if so, how much would one cost? I dropped a message to the Glassroots website, but I figure asking here as well might yield faster results, I don't know. The one year I went was so ridiculously positive and educational I couldn't even believe it. Like walking through a silicate dream. And I'm a much better blower now, so I'll just feel slightly LESS completely dwarfed by all these phenomenal minds in the field.
I cant wait to see this. This year or bust! now that its not on my bday I am there!
my check is in the mail already, i'm excited about this... and have already started planning on which lines i'm bringing to the show... i've got 2 designs that i know nobody else in the industry is doing and i'm excited to see how they transform as i make more and more in prep for the show!
Thanks,
Andrew
