Default New Fumies and Mount St Helens?

    Hello everyone,

Its been to long since I have actually had any time to make anything new. But I have a few older ones that have been sitting around, and some new ones for you.

Recently I have been woring with human ash, and someone asked if I have ever used Mount St Helens ash before. I looked at them and laughed and said, "and where would someone find that ash." Its not like we can go down to the corner market and say, "Yo, you have any of that May 18, 1980 ash available?" They then said, we have a jar of it at home from when we scooped it off of our lawn the day of the eruption, do you want some? I was like, sure. So I have a small sample of Mount St Helens ash to put into some marbles. Each one will be signed "mills 12 MSH #(insert number)" until I run out of the ash. The one below is signed "mills 12 MSH #1"

    eBay

    Thanks for looking and enjoy.
    James

Basically, yes. I treated it just like frit. I wasn't really sure how it would react to boro, so that was a test marble and I think it turned out rather nice. I was expecting it to crack or check, but it didn't. Now to try some more experiments with it.

You can also make ash stringer by putting some into a tube, puntying up to the end, and twisting the hell out of it from the closed end to the open one. Alternatively, roll a hot glob of glass in the ashes, mix up and repeat, but it's less messy to use a tube

Either way you do it, the stringer will be a bit more shocky than the glass was at first, so be careful.
