Default Introducing the V2 Stainless Steel Double Swivel

I have used a swivel at the bench constantly since 2002. I wore out a few cheap brass swivels in the first couple years. I found some nice Stainless steel swivels on ebay, and our shop used them for the past 6 years.

I found a machinist I get along with, and we got to talking.. and thinking...and drinking.. and improving and changing..

And the V2 Stainless Steel Double Swivel was born.

Both legs of the swivel actually swivel..

This eliminates your blowhose from snagging, or applying torque when you move it from one side to the other.
This also almost doubles the life of the swivel, since one leg is barely being used most of the time.
As my single swiveling leg has not worn out in 6 years, these should last at least 12 years.. but they should go beyond that, since these were made differently, with way more material to wear out before they would actually fail from wear.

After a few prototypes, I told the machinist that glassblowers love and appreciate quality.. so he added some flair to its function as well.
The double "S" is the machinist's mark.

$50 each. Includes shipping. (possibly just in the states, i will look into it if it comes up)
    $40 each for 5+

I stand by these swivels. don't like it? send it back (in good condition) and your money is returned to you. Something goes wrong with it? Let me know, and it will be replaced or fixed.

The machinist says don't store these in or wash with blood, or chlorine bleach.

here's a video where you can see some easy ways to attach your swivel to 3-13mm, 16x2.5, and 19x3.5 using just some latex tubing.

want 6 pieces of this latex tubing with your swivel? add 2 dollars, and get 6 pieces.
(or just get it from menards or home depot. It comes in 10 foot lengths.. around 18$.)

    from home depot:
Watts 3/8 in. OD x 1/4 in. ID x 10 ft. Latex Hose
    Model # SLGE10
    Store SKU # 769355

I'd say offer them in 1/4" and 3/8". Bring them down to glassroots.

Kudos Seth, I thought stainless swivels should have been done a long time ago. Will you be making other sizes?

PS I was drooling all over some of your pieces at Diskworld today, that last batch you sent em is bad ass.

Know anyone heading to AGI. I'd pick up one there. Maybe find someone ya trust and send em with a dozen or so. Great looking piece, my bench will have one soon.

thanks jake! been a while since i sent anything that way.. can't even think of what it was..heh

i'm not planning on any other sizes, because i don't the advantage of having any other size. these are 1/4 inch diameter legs, and they work flawlessly on the lathe, or by hand.
they have shortish legs to cut down on torque, as well as over all weight. even some of the stylish ground down parts are for cutting down weight, so it is as not noticeable as possible.

were you thinking a bigger or smaller size would be a good idea? why?

fosho! that's a great idea.. i don't have any leads on that at the moment.
i am hoping to have them for AGE and Glassroots.
since i get these made in somewhat small batches, and the lead time is a couple weeks, I just can't say 100% sure i'd have them for sale (99% sure i'll have 30 or so for AGE). i can say, for certain, i will have an example or two (ie, mine and a shopmates!)

monday and tuesday a few people will be getting the first of these.. i'm sure a couple will give their opinions about them then as well.

    thanks! seth

I got mine today, and it's crazy light and tiny. It makes my brass swivel feel like a brick

I'm looking forward to using it, thanks!

3/16 is nice when you dont feel like dealing with the heavier hose, very popular with the neon workers too.

ahh.. i use small diameter hose, possibly 3/16, then put a 2 inch section of 1/4 hose over the 3/16, and pop that end onto the swivel.

i don't like the weight either... that's why i use this hose setup. though.. i suppose you still can't beat the weight of a mini 3/16 swivel... maybe someday.

tomorrow, yours should show up, if it didn't today andrew. no worries.

After i talk with the machineist tomorrow, i will get back to those awaiting a reply.

    thanks!

Finally got to use this thing last night.

I LOVE IT! It's so smooth and light you completely forget it's there. Exactly what I wanted in a swivel.

Really nice build quality as well.

Get one! You won't regret it.
