    Default d3rk's Timeline

Fuck you if you don't like me, hi hello how ya doin... bitch. Excuse me, brief introduction: Raised in San Antonio. Introduced to glass in Austin 2011. I got my torch going early July of this year and have been at it part time each week since. Pendants were fun and a good intro to color, now the real fun begins... here's what I got so far. Tubes are 12.7m, spoons between 2.5 and 3" (except for the red laced one, she's 9.5 I believe).
I recently got the 10gal holding tank for the oxycon. Big difference. Currently on a 2 stud Barracuda with an EX15. Fan, I think, is 1350cfm. Suggestions and criticism welcome and appreciated. Thanks to everyone for sharing their threads. To see progression is awesome. Hopefully the first of many updates in timeClick image for larger version.

Looks like you are doing good there. Come downtown and meet the local yokels sometime. Zollie also sells tools, torches and glass now if you're ever in need.

Is there a specific reason you are skipping restrictions or maria's on your spoons? Everything looks real nice and you obviously know how to make restrictions because I saw some on your chillums. So, I'm not critisizing, just curious about the reason for no work on the mouth peices.

(edit) Is that little holding tank all you're using for oxygen? If it is, do you blow that out all the time? I go through 1500 pounds a day on a productive day, I couldn't amagine that being my only source.

It's a 10 gallon hooked up to an 8lpm oxycon. Considering a homefill at the moment. Need the funds.
Mouthpiece... It's only 12mm tubing and I wanted to get to a more comfortable level pushing bowls and laying color before attempting too much shaping. I was actually just about to post some more pics of some 16 and 19 mil spoons with shaping and full color.

With the oxy I'm the other way, I have bottles at home but it's a pain in the ass driving to the gas place every three days to fill three tanks. I've always wanted to either have it delivered or make my own, but I hear that it takes so long to fill a good size bottle that its almost not worth it. How long can you work on that setup before you have to stop?

Cool. I don't do any color tubing yet, really can't afford it.

That's what I like about the 26mm tube is that in order to get a good size bowl I have to blow it out, but to get a nice size stem I have to throw a restriction and or some nice marias to make it the right size. Double the practice on one piece.

I never have to stop. The only drawback from the tank is it doesn't fill per say, but creates a small reserve while I'm not using 7 or so lpm. It doesn't last long, which is why I have a second oxy con on the way. After that, it's a waste and a homefill would be in order if I wanted to step up torches or run the two I have at full mass.
From what I've read here (only on TMP does such useful info exist apparently), you can get a Ktank filled to 1600 or so psi in 34ish hours. Not bad if ya ask me. I can have that done before the weekend is over and have a tank for nearly the entire week, give or take a day. Homefills aren't cheap, but compared to the cost and hassle of third party...

Well, hell man, that's cool. I would never imagined that setup could sustain constant operation. That just makes me want to look into it a bit more.

Sold my first spoon on Etsy, got a couple commissioned pieces goin out. Overall, doin good. Havin fun. Happier than ever since I left my cube job.
Been trying to step up to 16 and 19mil lately. Was super nervous about using the Serendipity so I kept it simple. Very proud of the set, so it went on Etsy.
Loving the way Aquatic Carnival turns out with W&R. Made a bunch of the ghost fumed pieces, picked out my favorite. Trying to get down the shaping of my bats without doing and actual restriction. Got a bunch of implosion marbles to put on pieces. Them things ain't easy. Vortex is up next. Gonna try out more gandolfs (was the only good keeper), and sherlys soon. Really wanna try a side car soon, so I've been trying to get my joints clean.
Stopped by a local glass shop last week: Zollie Glass Studio. Gotta rep. Cleanest studio I've ever seen. Can't wait to see future mods and progress of that place.
    Thanks for peepin

I can't tell for sure, but it looks like the bowl push that you are using for your bowls might be too big for you spoons. I say that because it looks like the cool glass on the sides touched the hot glass while you were pushing the bowl. That will for sure cause a cracking problems in the future. I would suggest blowing out the glass bigger or use a smaller push. Other than that they look great and i looks like you started a restriction on that one spoon but stopped. As for the bigger tubing, I wouldn't shy away from it, for me the thicker I went, the easier it was to shape and control. Good luck and keep it up.

If you're talking about the green and grey one I pushed thy one with a 3/4 cone brass push. Used a 5/8 funnel shaped graphite on the rest. I have definitely noticed bigger is easier, in some areas. Thanks man

I was actually talking about the fumed spoon just under the flower, but now that you mentioned it, I see where it may be a problem on the green grey, It's just harder to see on the colors. ON the clear you can actually see if the sides are touching. I think I use around 5/8th on my bowls too, but I actually make my own graphite tools, so they come out what ever size my shaping tools are lol. I think your stuff looks great, keep up the good work.

Oh yeah you're right. The Gandalf. I didn't even notice that! Dammit they are touching. Surprised it didn't crack. Yeah didn't realize I had been using a 5/8 until I got the 3/4.
