I know this is an old thread but i was at ALS in Richmond yesterday and learned how they make this stuff and thought it was pretty cool. He told me the company (in Berkeley) takes a huge tube of quartz, put a tube of boro inside of that, then fill the boro tube with a bunch of smaller pieces of tubing. Then they put that whole burrito in a giant kiln (which can reach fusing temp for boro) and spin it in there on some rotisserie thing,., After that its time to cut slices.,. They told me they would sell them individually as well,.MANY different sizes, ones that will fit like 19mm that you could make glassscreen slides, all the way up to ones that would fit in some 75.. The perc sized ones were going for around 20-25 a piece.,.

Abr sells them , they are easy to use as well , no issues so far.
