Hold the rod down and keep melting/flattening/melting/flattening/melting

Re: newbies progression thread . feedback welcome :)
I don't actually think you imploded it at all. I think all you did was the initial burn in of the color. Once you melt all the color flat then you have to get the outside edges of the disc or maria to come down faster than the center. The way I get this to happen is I hit the outside edge with a flame enough to get it red or just yellow hot, then I put the flame directly in the center of the disc. Keep spinning and heating the center, it will take a while. once the outside starts falling faster than the center then you can implode. Don't wait until there's a major cup shape to start imploding. As soon as the outside is lower than the inside just lay the disc flat on top of your marver and let the weight of the glass do the implosion. You will do this several times until you have the desired effect. Once it's the way you want it just bring your punty back to horizontal with the floor and close up the implosion. Be careful not to trap bubbles in this stage.
I would be careful with the colors that you are currently using though because they boil real easy. try something like a really dark cobalt if you have it available. Pretty much all the bright colors(like crayon colors) that I know of are hard on newbs because you have to have a grasp on heat control
You should show a picture of your loop too. Most of us have a hard time getting the loops right and the people here can help you quite bit with that.

Utsf. There are a lot of good threads with visuals that can help you. As most people would advise, look for someone who is willing to teach a class. You will learn a lot faster and get more out of that.

Take your rod with a flattened end
=========|
Put dots on it
=========|:
Blend those dots into a ball
=========)
Flatten the ball into a Maria again
=========|
Round it out again
=========)
Flatten again
=========|
Round it out again
=========)
Punty up to the round area
====)-------
Chop it off above the dot pattern you sunk into the glass
=== =)-------
Round it out and get you magnification
()-------
Easiest way to do it/explain it

Re: newbies progression thread . feedback welcome :)
And to get a good magnification make your bead look like a half circle
Like this

Not like this
||
It will give you te depth you want.

Re: newbies progression thread . feedback welcome :)
updated pendants . let me know what you guys think much love tried a silver implosion think it turned out well . just trying some new things .

Wouldn't it be more like ============( before you flatten?
The outer edge falls faster than the center, therefore it puckers in the middle, you don't get a gather.
At least that's how I've been doing mine, don't know if it's wrong or right but I get some nice results and that's what it seemed like rogue was saying (if I'm wrong, don't hesitate to correct, I'm always down for advice).

Flattening after its round gets a deeper implosion. Your method is fine, but will take longer to get the same results.

Yeah, that's how I do it too.

from the looks of the first pic in post #7 ... yes, it looks like you are doing it right. you got the right end results anyways. now it's just a matter of cleaning things up. i find A LOT of it comes down to proper color selection. i do a lot better with some colors than others.
your loops look pretty solid as well.

Jeeze I made that stupid comment about me, and didn't say anything about your stuff. duh. You've got the right idea, you've begun getting the implossion. You should try to get some better pictures from all angles. To me it kind of looks like you are not creating a big enough lense or maybe you're compressing the marble too hard? I say that because it looks like your flowers are... squished? at the top.
When you compress the marble just let gravity do the work, don't smash the punty into the marving pad, I think that should fix the problem.

Re: newbies progression thread . feedback welcome :)
That's a very good tip that had been left out. I spent a long time smashing my design and not knowing why. I still struggle to keep the stamen straight. No pushing at all is what I go for.
