Default "Lifeforms!" Class at the Pittsburgh Glass Center

I am teaching a "Lifeforms!" at PGC in July 1 - 5. This will be a very special class because it ends on the day of the opening of "Lifeforms!" the Rudolf and Leopold Blaschka Biological Model Exhibition in the Hodge Gallery at PGC. Students will have five days of intensive instruction and opportunity to create lifeforms of their own and then attend the exclusive opening and awards ceremony for "Lifeforms!" that Friday night. Although the student's work cannot be included in "Lifeforms!" (deadline for submissions is May 8), we will have a smaller side-exhibition of student work just outside the gallery so anyone attending the opening will also see your work! You don't want to miss this unique event! Contact the Pittsburgh Glass Center at https://www.pittsburghglasscenter.org/ or call them at 412-365-2145.

This class will be a gem. Robert Mickelson is an innovator.

When I think about contemporary flameworked forms are hot and poppin' today, I think of animal parts like tentacles, horns, bones, skulls, feathers, tusks, fins, scales, breasts, faces, etc... & plant forms like flowers, buds, spikes, leaves, roots, branches, stamen, seeds, etc...

If you have any interest in appropriating/incorporating forms from the plant and animal kingdoms into your work this would be a stellar class to boost your skills and broaden your vision.

How many folks out there have studied with Mickelson or learned something from him via one of his students?

I learned how to use photo resists from one of his students.

I think if we got a roll call here the list would be long and impressive.
