Sure, any of those... why not? Though I prefer "Trained Artisan who used a flame composed of oxygen and a fuel gas and working in the medium of silica based boron doped glass who manufactures whimsical creations that delight some while provoking a moral, legal, and/or social dilemma to others as it may or may not be used in a fashion that may or may not be legal given the jurisdiction of the the maker and the end user" but that's a bitch to fit on a business card.

Thank you for knowing that "a lot" is not spelled "alot". However, is there a metric we can use to measure the volume of feedback on a given subject? Is it 2 or 3 people, 20 or 30? Are we looking for a majority of people on the forum to respond? In the US? In the world?

This is a subjective question, isn't it? I mean, are we talking about active time on the torch making pipes - in which case a year is 8765 hours and some change.... or are we talking "I made pipes when I started, but a few years into it I mostly make marbles, but sometimes make a pipe for a friend" or are you looking for people who never make anything BUT pipes? Should we factor in breaks from the torch, and how long of a break should be factored in... days, weeks, months?

I would say my answer would be between less than one and 13 years.

LOL I love some of the responses especially you Greymatter. If I could rep you again I would, but I need to spread more love around.

I already gave my opinion to this individual. I knew I was going to get some people getting all huffy puffy over labels, it's not a label for yourself personally. Specific to when you or someone else makes a pipe, what is it that specifically you call it if talking to another artist in the glass industry (maybe a coldworker, or a bead maker).

wtf is it with furnace workers?
there's a few hot shops around here, and i took a class at one a few years ago. the guy was really cool and knowledgeable, and we had a good rapport. fast forward to this time last year, i called same blower (won't mention name or hotshop name) and asked about some furnace marble classes. he was stoked to have me come up for a few hours on a saturday and the following saturday.
then i mentioned that i have a torch and make some mibs in my garage. all of a sudden he as too busy and could not fit me in, nor did he have the tools....or so he said.

it was strange to say the least.

Flame worked, furnace worked, warm work (kiln formed), cold worked

I guess I dropped the lampworking for the flame. It just seems to convey the spirit and visually paints a picture.

Btw: I here flameworkers groaning and complaining about furnace workers far more then I hear it the other way around. Most flame workers act as if they have something to prove when they here I do furnace work. I could care less how you do it we all share the same love for the material.

this summer will be my 15th year behind a torch. i dont know if i should feel happy or sad about that?

i could be a glass reformer
    or a pipe maker
    glassblower
    a medication delivery system engineer

is your friend a coward? does your friend have a poor view of us torchers?
