Thanks. I only have one because they are cheap at harbor freight and my husband has a pretty impressive compressor collection...might as well use it. The blaster is currently collecting dust on my back porch. My interest in it comes and goes.

This thread rules. Just finished up a piece made specifically for this thread. I've needed an excuse to stop the insane amounts of production and have some fun

If she survives (fingers crossed) I'll be making a contribution tomorrow.

Lmwfy, vinpin or tungsten? super clean.

Awesome photos, esp chubbles! When I take photos it tends to be really hit or miss, I end up just taking a bunch and get the fume to show it's colors well 1/10 times. My photos range from missing the fume all together and leaving the pc. looking clear or very slightly color tinted, to the other extreme where some photos bring out brilliant tones of fume that are difficult to see in person (leaving the pc.looking better then it does irl )

Anyone have general tips on getting fume not only to show up but to look sexy when photographing?

    nice!
i spoke with a friend/mentor the other day, he wants a bunch of small fumed mibs for pipe add-ons.

i'm thinking of making a fumed filigree cane (or whatever it's called), but scaled up. so i can just pull slugs off of it to twist up and make spherical, kinda like hot shop marble style.

Thanks yoda. Most of my pics are taken with an iPhone 4S. Some with flash on a black leather chair, some without flash on a black shirt in the sun. Always with the camera resting on something.

I standalone. If you do the fillqgree thing. Reverse axis after you marble em up. It's a way cooler angle from the side instead of dead on. Hope that made sense.

Again I must say, this thread rules. My contribution,

Nothing too fancy, messing around with a new way to make fumed lined tubing,

    Second attempt at that tech,

This piece is a gift for a particularly supportive shop owner

The colored sections on this one is that alchemy tubing. clear over double passion over jackpot. This one was a blast to make. My best fumicello marble to date. Had a hell of a time trying to capture the ghostly blues on the honey comb sections. Looks nicer in person.

    Keep em coming people!

    chubbles,

I love the colors you hit with your fuming. You've got this whole spectrum you seem to nail every time. Its so unique, your pieces are impossible to mistake for anyone else's.

Are pictures of dirty pieces still a no-no on the forum? I've got some antique maka b pieces i'd love to share.

Thanks dude. I'm trying. I just bought some simax. It's been about 3 years. I'm excited to try to hit new colors. Simax tube/schott rod? We will see. You're doing a great job. Just keep experimenting, I think you are about to hit some new levels.

I hate simax for fuming. I hate kimble as well. I do all my fume work with BSA. I find that it is easiest to control my results with the BSA. When I fume with simax, the silver grows way too much and always overpowers the gold in the blended area. I end up with white haze and metallic orange when I sleeve or encase it. When I use kimble, I find the colors blend too much and almost everything is a creamy yellow to orange. Both react with the silver in a way I find harder to control and unattractive. Almost all of my fume work is intended to have a full spectrum of colors and I only get controlled results with the BSA.

That being said, if you love working with fume, it is well worth your time to try the same fume work on a variety of types if clear. They all look different.

If y'all have any questions about how to get a certain color, or a certain effect, I am happy to help. While most people get all excited about every new color, I am cheap, and have spent most of my career experimenting with fume. It's so much cheaper than color and I think it looks better.
