Raffle for Alex's hair isn't over, but I'm afraid we won't round up the same entries as Aymie manages to. It must take a special touch to sell his hair rights hehe. (Wish you were here Aymie!!)

Not sure what this Internet can handle but maybe it will notice me long enough to drop another pic or two.

Awesome pics! Man I wish I was there.

Is the bates/worm mod you speak of using compressed air in the propane line?

Yeah I think that's what's going on with it. All I know is it turns my already amazing gtt into a more amazing, and complete, torch. With that mod I no longer want for a herbie flame. I hope I can pick one up sooner or later.

Someone asked for a close up of the bates/worm gtt mod on instaflizz so I figured you guys wanted one, too. I hope gtt starts selling these! We all need this.

Could you explain more about what difference the GTT mod makes to the flame? No experience with a herbie sadly

Sure, I'd be glad to explain.

Adding the air in cools the flame, so it's a softer less pushy flame. When you are doing a big hollow gather, for example, and it gets soooo hot that it doesn't want to be round, more like oval...that's from the pushy, really hot gtt flame. For most things with boro this is a fantastic upgrade from say, a cc, which is what we had to use before gtt. But, the super heat isn't good for everything and specifically makes large hollow flames a little more challenging.

Injecting this air and cooling the flame down this way makes it a softer, bushier but NOT reducing flame. Very important for most of us, especially those of us who like to use cadmiums or sparkles right! So we still get that amazing gtt flame that makes our life so much easier, but then cooling it down gives you the control you need, especially for hollow work.

It will change your world. Ask any herbie owner why they don't own a gtt, they'll prolly answer something to do with the need for the cooler, softer flame. Now, we can have it all...all in one!!

I really wish I had the loot to grab one of these mods off bates. Watching it slip between my fingers sucks. Hopefully gtt will make them available and I'll be able to afford one soon. After I worked on the delta with the modification, I no longer wished for a herbie! now I wish for this instead lol. Poor herbie.

Thank you so much more detail than I was expecting! So I had read about how some peeps prefer herbies for hollow forms and I now I understand why. Have a phantom myself and do find sometimes I want a big but more gentle flame but struggle without reducing some colours, I seem to be excellent at reducing jet black recently. Is this the kind of thing you mean? Also would it mean I can avoid reducing the black whilst not boiling the white right next to it? I love black and whit combo but always encase to reduce these issues.

Is it just an upgrade that can be installed by the end user or is it the kind of mod someone with the knowhow would need to do for you? I presume that this kind of upgrade would cost more than my phantom in the first place?

I was supposed to be at AGI this year before I got made redundant and man this whole thread makes me wish I'd been there so much. Looks like you and everyone else had a blast

    thanks again
