whats keeping you from setting up a kiln? if you have one you should DEFINITELY be using it. it just plugs into a normal outlet doesn't it?

back to the cell phone pics unfortunately.

been mostly just doing prodo iso frit spoons and fume spoons and dont have any on hand to picture. which is good they move. i've been trying tube implosions a bit still a little shakey on how to do it but the middle one came out cool. theres a honeycomb implosion pendant thing i tried a while back which i messed up the loop and should left off the dots on the bottom i guess. and last but not least my first lined tubing pull and reball, its somewheres around the 3rd or 4th time i tried a reball so im surprised how nice it came out clean terminations on both sides.

i also home made a necking tool. just got steel from home depot used a pneumatic wheel cutoff to cut it to shape, filed a knife edge, and then drill holes to bolt on the max... unfortunately i made it out of mild steel like a dummy so its ok for what i need it for, breaking down tubing, but i cant use it to do mouthpieces because it leaves metal scuzz on the glass.

Your stuff looks a lot more amazing than anything within my first attempts, though I guess my teacher had me on oil burners for like 6 to 12 months before I moved on to other things. But then again I notice a lot of peoples first work on here is pretty amazing these past few years. Keep up the great work! Using scrap from your job recycled into a coil potted piece is dedication!

For a honey comb I like to draw the tube out a little. Like between 12 and 16mm and I like it to be really thin.

When the tube is pulled down like that I can really pack the dots on. I just fume and lay dots with 4mm rod.

I come back a second time with the dots so when they condense down they really push up against each

other and change shape in there.

thanks gomilobster! i was surprised all that super overworked chinese glass survived being bench cooled for like a couple months before i touched it to show someone and a crack went through the edge of the bowl area.
i couldn't imagine making obs for that long, would drive me nuts im so ADD i always jump around. the prodo spoons have helped to keep me on track and learn condensing but now im thinking i should just do 20 constrictions in a row. All the other steps are fun and im ok at them but i really wanna focus on gettin my spin even the twisted glass gives me a headache, i want it to all be perfect.

sup fumesniffer thanks for the tip. i only have 4mm wall 38 and 25, which i think is causing me some issues with the implosion honeycomb deals. as of now i blow a super thin bubble and lay as fat of dots as i can. then melt it down even and slow ish but i feel im probably not slow enough. anyway then i have the issue of when i cut the rest of the tube off the lens is convex instead of concave so i spend a lot of time trying to reverse that smooth it out and snip the extra glass off with scissors etc. thats the gist of what im doing.

are u saying u pull and blow in to stretch and thin out the tubing before u lay the dots instead of just blowing a bubble? and then u said u come back a second time? so u lay another dot on top of the first ones to make them have more mass? ill give that a shot lemme know if im way off haha.

Yeah, when I lay dots on a ball it's hard to get those dots as close together as I can without letting them touch.

If I pull the tube out I can the dots right where I want them.

The second time around does add mass to the dots inside your pattern and helps to get some shape in them.

Look up dot box. That's a cool tech you don't see much lately. Smolder used it on a sherlie he recently posted.

the one on the right was a collab with my buddy who got me into glass. he did some shaping on the can and the decoration. i assembled all the stuff and made the mouthpiece. when i was melting in the downstem it tagged the inside of the bowl area and made a strange divot on the outside surprised it didn't crack.

the one on the right i made the day before yesterday and i forgot to put a carb on it so i had to fix that last night.

i was working on a new bub that looked better than these ones last night but when i was welding in the stem i melted my entire constriction for the bowl hole into the bowl so the hole was gigantic. i ended up destroying it trying to make the hole smaller grrrrfff. just gotta keep trying i suppose.
