If you don't have flashback arrestors, you shouldn't be torching.

We don't ask "how many people are saved by seatbelts" anymore. Is it really about "how many" people have had a tank explode? hopefully not many.... small explosion vs large explosion, both 20lb tanks. Imagine either next to your bench.

But besides stoking death, if you have your tank indoors at home you are possibly breaking the law. You can't legally store more than a 1lb tank indoors at home so if it does blow you might be 1) criminally responsible and 2) homeowners insurance may not cover it.

Even places that allow it indoors (shops, warehouses, etc...) do not allow it to be stored within 20 linear feet of oxy tanks or anything flammable. You are within 20ft of your torch so you've violated OSHA policy. Again, good by to any insurance policies and hello negligence lawsuit.

Before you decide to stick it outside please realize that it is illegal to pass hoses through exterior walls, you need to use gas-grade piping with shutoff valves at both ends and a 10lb fixed-regulator on the tank because it is illegal to pipe propane indoors at greater than 10psi.... OR you need quick connects to unhook your hoses from the tanks after use (which is the route I've taken).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you need flashback arrestors for any surface mix torch.

Yes use them. I use a gtt mirage and the flashbacks saved my tanks from exploding one day.
