A couple of pendants from yesterday.
One more. The silver fume got murky but it came out clean with decent depth.
I was recently asked to submit a handmade Christmas ornament to the town hall because a few folks around here know I do glass work. They have a contest for local artist that consists of making a one of a kind, handmade ornament, that represents your local Virginia community. Well, in my town, peanut farming is the big industry. The winner of the local contest gets their ornament sent to be put on the Governor's Christmas tree at the executive mansion here in Virginia. I made this from a piece of 25x4 and sanded down a small graphite rod to square shape to make the indentions. Its roughly 4'' long. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. Wish me luck.
^ I already know you won.
Chinese and simax. I usually use chinese though, and I really like the way it fumes. Fist off, I cannot get it to strike, and as well I can make a honey comb, but I tend to maul the fuck out of them trying to strike them. I have been fuming the inside til I cannot see through it, then close it up, make it nice and uniform etc, then blow out an orb real thin, dot it, condense it. Just cant really get it to strike.

Don't heat it up to where its moving again. Just heat it up enough to get an even glow.
Its hard to make time while doing produsction work. i did one last night, and the comb did not come out worth a fudge, but I went ahead and tried to strike it. I heated it four times, each time I held it under the table til it stopped glowing. and all I have is a white out

I get that from time to time and im pretty sure it has something to do with the flame chemistry you are using.
iirc, it has to do with reduction.....not letting any amt of reduction flame touch the fume. that's what i've been told, and have had decent luck with it. it's just hard to keep it so oxidizing w/o burning off the fume when closing the bubble.
You shouldn't be having sex for pleasure, only for reproduction.
Thousands of people read my threads now. So I’m trying to not embarrass myself.
Well I got the call yesterday, informing me that my peanut ornament was chosen by the local judges and is on its way to Richmond Va. to be put on the governors Christmas tree this year. Pretty proud of this accomplishment.
Congrats!! It turned out awesome!
Laugh hard, it's a long way to the bank.

That's very cool, congrats!
nice!
Thanks fellas. In the middle of my Christmas ornament season right now and when people saw this I immediately started getting orders for them. They take about an hour to make (for me) and its pretty tedious, therefore I told myself that I would only make 10-15 a year and they will come signed, dated and numbered. So far im on #6.
My latest jellyfish pendant. These are pretty fun to make.
