Re: Show your antique and oddball glass tools and equipment
I stumbled across this earlier today and thought I would add it to the thread as a little bit of a supplement to the great info Firejunkie posted earlier, since it predates his scan of the same type of torch. It's a captioned illustration from page 4 of the 1949 book "Scientific and Industrial Glass Blowing and Laboratory Techniques" by Barr and Anhorn, and is pretty obviously the same design as the Humbolt "'Jumbo' Universal Blast Burner" in the awesome drawing/instruction sheet he posted.
Since my particular torch came from the Boston, Mass area, it seems reasonable to assume that it is probably an MIT Blast Burner, as mentioned in the caption. (There aren't any manufacturer marks on it.)

I can help anyone looking to port modify your model A pm2d to better combust alike with newer model Bs. You can rage all day using propane I've done this more times than I kept track of and never had anyone not love the difference.

Re: Show your antique and oddball glass tools and equipment
Would you consider selling the starfire?

Re: Show your antique and oddball glass tools and equipment
I just picked this up. It's an old precision scientific, with inputs for gas, oxy, and air.
It was in regular use before being stored a couple of decades ago, and I want to get it all cleaned up and fire it up. Does anyone have any good suggestions for how I should go about it?
Thanks.

Re: Show your antique and oddball glass tools and equipment
Thought I would post photos of these vintage tools, since I may not have them much longer. (I might list them on eBay.) Some are holders and a couple are finishing tools for making the top on a bottle or container. They all came from Millville, NJ and several (most?) are quite likely from the 1800's, especially the finishing tools. A few are stamped, one with "Millville" on both the handle and center shaft, and one that appears to have been stamped by three different owners over the years - WM V. Cameron (with what looks to be a double struck M); "T.K. Eberhardt"; and someone with the initials "S W". The TC Wheaton Glass Company originally produced pharmaceutical glassware and that's probably what at least some of these tools were used for.
Anyway, here they are.

Re: Show your antique and oddball glass tools and equipment
Here's one of a kind I recently traded away. It's a national gas/ oxy mini hand torch, this thing has a nice steady pin point flame perfect for having as a side arm to your bench burner. 1/4" nozzle, this cannot be blown or shaken out easily if at all, also full brass construction including valves and nozzle joint so there's no seals or gaskets to ever fail. The only one I've ever seen, very nice piece!

Original Bethlehem sharp flame in New condition, I also bought this one new still in plastic with paperwork and cleaning wires, has the best long hot pinner lazer flame of any beth torch I've seen! The other one w updated tip also works amazingly, I sent in the original New tip to Bethlehem to have them make it work better/ get a tighter flame but ended up getting a whole new updated version, second to last one they have!
