7 Months! My journey has just begun
How long have you been at the torch? If there was a special club for each milestone, what should it be called?

18 months, just scratchin the surface
9 years and also just scratching the surface..lol
I have been on the torch for 16 years.
3 yrs, just getting my fingertips burnt
Just over 3 months and I can't see this flame in my heart ever going out!
I love this industry,I love the community, and I love every moment that im at the torch.
I've never felt more fulfilled and balanced in my life.
Not long enough......
I started in 1978....I answered an ad that simply said, " glassblower wanted, will train." So I worked full time for a few years, then took 20 years off, because my father said I should "get a real job", and raise my children properly with a predictable regular income and insurance benefits.
.....but I missed glass the whole time, and I never got rid of my torch/hoses/oxy regulator/lil marver pad, old outdated rx glasses and pair of plyers....I carried those things around in a box with every housing move I made for 20 years.
...then I started having dreams at night in which I was blowing glass in the torch flame....it got to the point where I couldn't wait to go to sleep, in the hopes of having a glass blowing dream.....and I found this awesome forum when it was just beginning, back on page one when kristian was talking to himself....so then i decided I was insane to live my life hoping to dream about what I really wanted to do, and that I should just do it!
so I took out a loan and set my shop back up in 2001....started back part time, until I finally quit my "real job" 3 years ago, and now this is my REAL real job!!
The first day I used a torch with oxy I posted it here, that was 08-09-2010. This community has been my teacher and friend through the whole thing. Thank you TMP crew!

Five months, woot, and have still yet to start my progression thread (that I've written and rewritten about four times now, hah). This site is awesome - I've learned a ton from lurking for the past month or two, thank you guys.
Been on the torch 11 months doing part time between class and work. I'm working on the torch 30 hours per week now and I'm both delighted and terrified to try and support myself from flameworking. Everything I have learned I also owe to this forum, thank you all. I hope one day I can give back some knowledge.
