25x4 is pretty common, I recommend getting a sample pack though and trying different tubing sizes with different wall thickness, you will find what you prefer for your own style.

I used 25mm x heavy to start on...... for clear, or color on the outside......

2 weeks in , my shop mate brought in some 31.5mm? x heavy........... and the gods rejoiced!!!! 31 was so much easier...... easier to shape, Easier "in side out" , easier bub cans , ect.... Just super easy all around. 0nly difference is..... start with a shorter clear section vs the 25mm to get the same size end product.(even oneies) It is easier to make a larger selection of objects from 31.5 mm. At least it was for me.

    I think the simax I buy is 31.7 by 4mm thick ?

I started with 9.5mm extra heavy for handles/blowtubes.... but use 12.5- 14 mm x heavy now. The slightly larger handles take more abuse/weight..... the slightly smaller handles, they come with more tubes in a box as they are sold by weight, so thats one thing to think about.

you get the 25 , or the 31 , by weight as well. you will get more pieces of a given product from a tube of 31 vs less product from a tube of 25. So it all works out to the same amount of product in the end.

Currently , If I have a choice..... I use 38mm x h for all my spoon/ bat stuff, but I have a two stage torch now. If I had to do it all on a single stage torch budget..31mm can do it all.

25.4 mm heavy wall tubing for spoons, bubblers, and inside-out chillums. I use 19 mm heavey wall for chillums and pendants. 9.5 mm heavey wall for downstems and blowtubes.

25 x 4 mm (extra heavy wall), that'll be your bread and butter tubing.
