Trautman Art Glass has made and donated 3 pounds of dense pink slyme!

Only *slightly* denser. Just like the regular Slyme, the COE is a tad high on the Pink Slyme, and it also likes a bushy flame -- but it does not need as much propane as the regular Slyme to prevent boil. You tend to get a milkier strike with a more reducing flame and a more transparent effect with a more neutral flame. And like all the Slymes, Pink Slyme will be a bit milkier under encasement.

Mr. Pr0n and Light Fire Glass have donated 1 mixed pound of color each, and 2 x 1/2 ounces of silver each. What an awesome couple. A little about Mr. pr0n: (will add info about Light Fire Glass when I receive it. )

Approximately 4 years on and off as a glassblower myself, and I have been buying and selling work for approximately 10 years. Seeing all the variation in fume got me really interested in glass, and once I started to understand what was causing the effect, the science and antiquity behind the technique got me even more interested. I stopped buying glass and started buying tools so that I could stop studying the fume of other people, and start studying my own. In 2014, I spent 8 months saving money, and selling everything I owned. I switched from a very successful career as a computer scientist, to a new student at Salem in the scientific program.

And a little about one of the mixed pounds:

One pound of assorted color rods. Mostly Glass Alchemy and Northstar. There is one stick of lemon drop, one stick of purple rain, one stick of avatar azul (A northstar blue that is no longer in production) and most of the rest of the colors are silver strike colors.

This torch was bought new in 2000. Was used full time , 60 hours a week for almost 4 years, by a blower named "John kruzi" he is from upstate n.y. But lives close to grass valley c.a. Now? Does scientific and pipes now..... John sold it to me for 25$ beer money a decade ago.

Kristen Pickett first began flameworking about 35 years ago, in the late 70's, in Charlotte, N.C., under the instruction of Richard McCleary of ""The Lost Art"". This artist's glassblowing co-op also operated the Glass Shop at Carowinds, a theme park on the border of the Carolinas
She took a hiatus from glass to "get a real job", continuing her creative pursuit of expression through pottery, painting, and jewelry making while simultaneously balancing a nursing career and raising a family.

Listening to the flame calling through her night time dreams, she set her glass shop back up in 2001, and Kristen now devotes her full time efforts towards glass work in her retail gallery/gift shop with demo studio which is located in the historic district on beautiful Jekyll Island, GA. She is proud to also represent the work of other fine glass artists in her shop.

Gypsea spirit prevailing, she travels frequently back and forth to her private studio in the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia. She enjoys the laidback tropical lifestyle and the jammin' music from her husband's band, The WharfRatz, of which she is also the managing agent.

"I am inspired by the varied beauty of nature that surrounds my island and mountain homes...where I happily pursue my true passion for glass."

Kristen,aka: Gypsea, is an original member of, and has been greatly influenced by the sharing of information that flows from "The Glass Lampworker's Discussion Group"/ "The Melting Pot". Each piece made is derived from a social-political view or conspiracy theory. We hope our glass opens a dialogue among people that makes them think. I have had some strong reactions to our name, but that is the point. For those who care to dig deeper, they will find a story behind the creation of each piece of art. They share the story with others and it opens the mind of the human conscious. It happens everytime they take the piece off the shelf. The ignorant just run.
