Re: Happy Halloween! Costume contest!
Oh how fun. I shall post pictures promptly. In the mean time, I have a bit of time, so I shall ramble. ;-D
The Jesus picture made me chuckle. I was raised as a strict Christian(what I am now is not up for discussion), but not quite like other Christians. Most of them let their kids celebrate Halloween, but I only remember trick or treating once as a child, and I don't remember what I was dressed as, I was too young. After that, the holiday became forever known as either devils day, razor apple day, or LSD temporary tattoo day. My mother was terrified of getting poisoned candy, and said it was an evil holiday.
I didn't dress up ever until last Halloween, where my girlfriend, my son, my 2 daughters, and myself were all dressed as ninjas. I always take them trick or treating, but that was the first year I dressed up too. I made a note, and brought it with us. Only one house allowed a suitable opportunity to use this note though. Nobody was around, the front door was such that when they opened it they'd see the note and the bags of candy. I had the kids and my girlfriend hide, I placed their bags of candy on the front step, and the note on top of them, knocked, and ran and hid myself. They guy who came to the door was an older, grandpa aged man. He read the note aloud. "We are ninja, you can not see us". Then he said, "cute, cute", paused for a couple of seconds, and came up with a clever come back of his own.
"Hey honey look, someone gave us some free candy".
He thought he outsmarted me, but I had already come up with a contingency plan. I yelled, "NINJA, ATTAAAAAAAAACK!", and ran up to the door with my weapon. My plan failed though, as my troops were ill informed of the plan, and improperly trained. They came casually walking up, maybe even feeling a little uncomfortable with the idea of pretending to swarm this poor old man. He laughed at our feeble attack.
This is the effect I was going for.
The one girl in the black dress is awesome!
