Glass BBQ Lampworking Finishing Tongs
Hey TMP
Just started making these guys for some friends recently and received some good responses on them. So now I am making these for a bigger crowd!
These are 16" stainless steel bbq tongs, with oak handles. The ends are wrapped in a soft, high heat wrap. The wrap can withstand temperatures up to 2500° and is held in place with 2 stainless steel ties on both sides.
For my TMP family I am giving you $10 off. Just use the coupon code TMP10 when you check out.
Hit me up if you have any questions.

Nice tongs. I would make a couple of smaller sizes also. I used to make them with the smaller tongs and pliers. I just cut a finger off an old glove and wired it on with rebar wire. I actually wish I had a smaller set for gripping finished gong slides to load the kiln. I used to use the pliers for spoons. But I use tweezers now.
Just an idea nothing serious.

I was actually just thinking about smaller version in pliers today. My idea was hemostats with wrapped ends.

Maybe, but I already have a foot in that door if I go that route. I work full time at MGA

Those are just like the ones a lot of us have made . First time I saw that type was at a Jason lee or marcel demo .
They used the thicker glove material .
What kind of material and thickness are on these .

Yeah they aren't anything new, I just enjoy making them. Gotten good responses on the tongs and tape I use too.
From my webstore description:
"The wrap is a high temperature silicate fiber made to handle continuous operating temperatures of 1500° Fahrenheit and intermittent temperatures of 2000°F."
It's header tape. I actually line the bottom of my kiln with the stuff. No smoking and doesn't break down.
Thickness is about 3/8"-1/2". I wrap twice and have two inserts down the middle.
