My wife works for an intellectual property law firm. I asked her to search his patent. The number he provided would be for a provisional patent. They are only good for a year and his would probably be expired based on the number. A provisional patent is really only a place holder. It probably wouldn't even hold up for cease and decist. He claimed Dow chemical filed the patent and gave it to him. Not very likely. That goes the other way. Companies buy patents from individuals. They are in the business of making money, not giving it away. If this was something new they would be able to batch huge amounts of it without him. They have real scientists, unlimited recourses, and would have had the process documented in the patent they supposedly gave away.
