Soft Boro??

Has anyone heard of this yet? Just saw it mentioned on FB that Alex Ubatuba and Shelbo have been using it lately. Supposedly it's something GA came up with recently COE 51

I just kinda have to wonder why though? Anyone have some thoughts? Just seems like a way to restrict your color pallete to me, I guess it'd take a little less heat but still why???

Retaining certain aspects of being able to work it out of the flame longer for things like sculpting maybe, while still retaining some "grit n snot" of boro perhaps? I could see a cross between acrylic and oil paints to be fun to use too

I read a paragraph about it on one of their post. said longer miniuplation times, little lower melt temp. but one of the big advantages is the color palate possiblibites are much more wide open than regular boro. More than likely with all the sculpting going on right now they see an opening for a new material that lends its self more to being worked in that way.

I've read a bit here and there (mostly old posts from lampwork etc and wetcanvas) about some 50 coe boro...these articles were years old too. i also wondered what ever happened to it.
just what i need....another coe in my stash lol.

I figured it'd be directed more at sculptural work but does that mean they're intended to be functional? I thought with this new type of glass they'd have to rework their color formulas. We're still getting new boro colors!!

I imagine it came up in order to appeal to the folks working boro from crucibles. With the higher COE it should melt a little lower than 'regular' boro.

I hadn't heard anything about it lately, I assumed it had vanished back off of the market.
