2015 Armadillo Art Glass Initiative

The 2015 Armadillo Art Glass Initiative will be held at St Elmo's Fire in Austin on May 23-24.

St Elmo's Fire is owned by Salt and Snic, and is home to many talented artists. We want to thank them for welcoming everyone in to their space.

This year's event will benefit Meals On Wheels And More of Austin for the third year in a row. Over the last two years, we have donated over $40,000 to MOWAM. We want to raise another $20,000 for them this year, and look forward to spending time with all of you and having a great time while we accomplish this goal. Come on out and have a good time with glass for a greater cause.


Event Schedule:

Main Event May 23-24: Live glass blowing demos by a whole heaping load of artists from Texas, joined by a selection of artists from around the country. In addition, we will have live music, food, drinks and a silent auction.

Ticket Info:

General admission $15/day or $25/weekend pass ($20 for weekend pass with donation of at least two canned food items.) Tickets are only available at the door.

VIP $600 (only 10 available) VIP tickets get you access to both days of the event, as well as access to the work space for the artists. These VIP ticket holders will be able to get up close and personal with all of our participating artists, giving them the chance to watch and learn from the masters, as well as having the opportunity to ask them questions and pick their brains. So far we have Salt, Snic and Micah Evans confirmed, and I will post more as the list grows. A class with one of these artists alone would be worth the cost of the ticket, and with this "class", you get access to several of the top artists in the industry. We will give you a personal introduction to each of the participating artists, as well as any other industry folks you wish to meet. Last year our VIP ticket holders were incredibly satisfied and we anticipate their return this year. These tickets will not last long. Please let me know ASAP if you are interested.

I just did a pretty major update to our schedule. We are going to rep Texas in a serious way this year. We will have 40+ artists, and a good 75% of them are from Texas.

Anyone who lives in the Austin Area, Im looking for a Hotel good enough to bring my girl with me but on a Glass blower budget($120/night or so) any Suggestions to whats close to the Venue and still would sleep good enough for a picky significant other?

I'd be ok with $29.98/night but wifey is a little picky! Most stuff in the area of austin was pretty pricey, cheapest I saw was like 70/night so i figured 120 would give myself a little range in the Area... Last time i went to Austin I stayed in a friends house so i guess i never really checked out the Hotel market.

I checked in to the "home" rentals for the weekend and they seem to be better priced! gonna see if anyone wants to throw in on a Big house, if not i'll just grab a 1bdrm condo close to St. Elmo's. Can't wait to meet everyone!
