    Default Preparation for AGI

    I've only been working RODs..
    Making mostly marbles and/or Pendants.

I tried to use a Tube once, and collapsed it quickly, after causing a ton of bubble trash opening a carb hole.

My question is should I try to get a little more experienced doing tubes Before AGI, or would I be better off waiting until I
get to AGI and learn it while I'm there?

I can't decide if "properation" is a spelling error, or the most awesome portmanteau about proper preparation that I have I have ever seen.

P.S. Go to AGI. All skill levels are welcomed and this is your last chance (they aren't doing it after this year).

    I'm definitely going.
I'm wondering is I should be a little more experienced with tubes prior to going, or learn it there.
I can't help but think I should get a little more of the total noobness of tubes out of my system prior to going, or not.
Preparation doesn't come up as a spelling error

Ray always practice as much as you can so you will have the ability to absorb the vast amounts of info you are about to be overwhelmed with.
With 50 tor hs going at once you will find works of all nature and skillet being built all week.
Come with an open mind and take in as much as your brain will allow.
Ask lots of questions of the people who have experience and you will be rewarded with the best experience you could ask for.
    Lots of opportunities

One of my big regrets in life is that due to the fact that my jobs busiest period is in August, I'll never get to attend an AGI. It doesn't keep me up at nights, but when I think about it, I get a little sad.

Icarus, come to AGI and put some people to work on your torch there to make your stuff, that way you get to the last AGI,
and some of us get to meet you. I try to do a couple of pieces (assuming spoons) if you show me how

If you made lots of bubble trash, you blew to hard.....(captain obvious)

The thing that helps me with clean holes, slow the flame down. A fast oxy flame always wants to make more trash than a softer slower ,but still hot flame. (not so obvious, but true.)

First thing...Marbles ...shaping. I have like 4 different marble molds and it still takes
me hours to get it close to being round. Need to see someone doing an implosion up close and
personal like... I want to see the heat index etc.
I've not been able to watch anyone make anything except couple of bead classes.
I want to start learning how to do some hollow work.
I would love to see some sculpture as well.
Then on the second day I would .....

I'm very much looking forward to it.
And getting to meet people from here, and people there.

What are you wanting to accomplish?

Sounds good man. My top three would be to get my welds down cleaner, mini tubes and rettichello's.

you should look up implosion videos on YouTube they have some great ones to learn from watch how they angle the glass, it is important to have it angled in a upward position and faceing at you at the same time and working it slow so it has the chance to melt, then marver the maria when it starts to cup works well for me for nice imploding. As for molding marbles start with one that's a little bigger than the one your working then next move to smaller than the size your working and always remember to keep it spinning and moving when using mold at all times. hope this helps.

I'm hoping to make a goblet I can drink out of. I made a very small one with lots of help from Tim Drier using his set up 2 yrs ago. I am also working to improve my hollow work and need smoother welds and better control of size and placement of holes. I've tried making blown glass rings and my size/shaping needs improvement. So looking forward to my glasscation.

Ray - I can help you with round marbles if you like.

Hi Ray - I can also help with marbles and implosions too. Mike Close has a video on Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FUO...GBPRFQ&index=8) - really helps. My list - a drinking glass, perfume bottles from Don Parker, flowers from Anthony Charles, and anything having to do with marbles.

Mike makes it look so simple.
He starts with an onion shape and in no time at all makes a nice round marble.
My only question now is where do I get an onion mold?
