I'm incredibly fortunate to be in a place where I can take classes with a top notch teacher, JD Whipkey i.e. Mecha and more recently marble specialist Carlos Montez i.e. Losiwells. I have been on a Knight torch the whole time but recently have a 40mm Herbie tuned by Jason Howard up and running. I am still on the waiting list for a
Mirage with air, my first choice but the Herbie came up on Ebay at the exact moment my tax return landed, serendipity. Wondering if GTT will ever contact me since I haven't pestered them, lol. With any luck I will have a place of my own at which point I can make functional pieces by fall or winter. I work a 9-5 and don't know if I could ever make the leap but I have been bitten by the bug hard. I'm Klaus Von Alder on Facebook and @vonalderglass on Instagram, if you want to talk beer, BBQ or chess come at me bro. #veryStern
My first piece from my first class, my first vortex marble (more lumps than a bowl of oatmeal) and my first sculpture (after a bubble implosion went bad and I didn't want to chunk it).Early classes from left to right
