get a digital controler off this site for it. Best investment you can make.
picked up a 96j aim kiln and some tools today, and the kiln fires, and the infinite switch seem to work, but the pyrometer is all out of wack. i fiddled and discovered it had an adjustment screw on the front, but it was not adjusting much, so I took the cover off, and the post on the adjustment screw was broken off. I attempted to adjust it by hand from there, and It seem to just be screwy or totally fucked. Does anyone have expereince with this particular kiln and its pyrometer? any help appreciated, because this seems that it coulbe a goood bench kiln if I could just judge the temp it was running.
sorry for grammars, i am off work and medicating heavy

Aim will sell you the switch, or you can grab one from your local appliance repair shop. Nomad is right, buy a controller from Brads he makes good controllers, and I actually think he should charge more for them than he does.
I am getting a brads box for my crucible kiln, but I think I am gonna go for the 25 dollar replacement I found, because I have not reason to think anything is wrong with the controller. Infinite switch seems to be fine. if i was gonna replace the whole controller and go digital of course i would get it from brad schutte. but i am trying to keep the price of this used kiln lower than a new one if ya smell me

Check the tip of your thermal coupler is not cracked.
If it is, melt it back together
I checked that out, and it has been resolered before. today i went outside and recalibrated it to the outside tempreature, and when i get home tonight, i will test it once more, but if not, I am gonna get a cheap digital one off of ebay. Its just for garaging on my bench. If that does not cure it, I will either sell it as is and lose a little money, or by an easy backe from brad.
