I just read the article about this in Flow Magazine - are lots of folks actually hiding marbles?

This made me think of Josh Simpson's "Infinity Project" ( http://www.megaplanet.com/the-infinity-project/ ), with over 3,000 of his marbles hidden around the world - some easy to find, some in places like the Mariana Trench (deepest place on Earth) and way up in the Himalayas (Everest?)

I hid 3 yesterday. There are 1000's being hidden. There is 1 artists who has been mailing them out (60) and has at least 1 being hidden in every state. I have sent out a handful to friends in several states. This is going to be a HUGE event.

Cool idea, I just really wish it weren't centered on facebook. An IG account would have been better for this in every way.

I've found 1 so far. There are about 20 of them hidden in Northern CA. Humboldt area. Too far for me to drive though. Saw some found in Japan, New Zealand, Australia, across the US. Get some!!

Funny I have been leaving gifts on park benches etc since I started blowing glass. Never felt the need to let everyone know... Kinda ruins the idea behind it if you ask me. I guess part of the fun for me is imagining how the person responded to finding it.

That's what I thought at first too,I have left glass at so many spots.I wonder how long my glass will be on the earth.Think until there is no more earth.I left glass in so many random spots that people will not find for a long time.I leave and give glass to people all the time one of the best parts of glass for me.
So I checked out the Marble hunt and it is pretty cool, people are having lots of fun with there kids doing it.I am going have to leave some for people to find and give out some marbs for people to hide.

It's an organized scavenger hunt. It's not an ego trip about gaining recognition, it's an introduction into the world of marble collecting. People hide marbles and give clues as to where they are located. 1000's of people are involved and everyone is enjoying themselves. Instead of having to "imagine" how people feel, you get to actually interact with them and share the joy. Hundreds of people who would never have even known about collecting marbles are now out buying and hiding marbles of their own. It's probably the nicest thing I've been part of since I started blowing glass.

Someone I don't know spent the day with her family yesterday hunting my marbles. She thanked me for getting her to go see places she was unaware were even out there. She spent the morning in town and the afternoon out at the beach. Her daughters were amazed with the marbles they found and are excited about finding more. I feel good about myself for doing that for them but I feel even better for the children who discovered something they wouldn't have known otherwise.

I mentioned it on Reddit Lampworking and one person took issue with the claim it was the worlds biggest. I guess there are wet blankets everywhere who would rather criticize someone that is trying to promote their art, and at the same time making people happy.

Getting a photo of a kid's smiling face holding one of your marbles is great. You don't get that unless you anonymously leave your contact info on the park bench. The kid in question loved the marble so much that he named it. So go ahead and criticize, point out grammar flaws, I got a lot out of the event even before I got the order for a marble(s).

I tried to find some in Eugene but I was too late. It was fun, though!

I haven't had a shop for a bit til recently so I don't have any to hide, but maybe before it's over I will.

It's an ongoing event that has no end date. Check the page often for more hunts in your area. I have marbles hidden that I haven't posted clues to yet. I also have more to hide.

Sweet, I didn't know it had no end date. I haven't had much time to actually read about it.
