I just got notified of this thread and Mechas skull work. I had not seen this until pointed out, makes mine look on the level of Play-Doh and paste. Truly gorgeous, amazing and inspiring!

Hashmasta thats rad! I don't drink heavy beers any more, bad things happen on the journey from bottle to b-hole.

Dude, your skulls are coming out sick.
And man, that link to Mecha's stuff..I'm thinking to hit that skill level I'd need to take a trip to the crossroads, and a hammer out deal that involves some serious concessions in the afterlife.

Looking like progress is being made

It’s been a month or more since I turned on a torch but today my new shop is at basic function level! Needs final touches and adjustments but I’m ready to get back to work. Needs backer board, a light, seal up the ductwork and set out glass and tools but I can make stuff at least. Stoked!

is the water heater there going to be an issue? or the furnace?
if you dont have a supplied makeup air source, the negative pressure of your ventilation system will be sucking the vented gases from the water heater and furnace.
If your cracking the connection from the stem to the rig, it may be an acute angle on the inside of the connection wield ?
Two camps, the Mira on your down stem, or add the joint last.
Depending on what I'm making, I might use either method.
This thread may help?

Thanks for the feedback Shattered. There is a 7” round vent at the top of the garage on the “left”side of garage wall as well as two vent panels on the lower left wall. These are the kind that usually vent the crawlspace but they are above ground, plus the garage door has a fat gap at top so there is lots of makeup air. I opened he man door with the fan running and there was no change in tone or flow when door was open vs closed. Fan is a Fantech FKD 8XL.
BoRo, I have read that thread dozens of times but thanks for the reminder and link. I am not good at translating words into work, a live demo is what i need, actually I really just need to do more of them and figure it out. Been a month off the torch so I’ll start again with the basics to refresh and then level up.

the reason air will flow into the space from those vents you speak of is because there will be negative pressure created from your fan sucking the air out. it will also suck air through the vents of your appliances. you need to look into that issue. safety first. you have to either install powered fans on the exhaust ducts of your appliances, or provide a powered make up air source equal to the cfm you are exhausting. not passive.
Yep, gas water heater and furnace in a garage = not safe
Well, that’s different with explanation. I’ll look into it deeper. Any suggestions?

get another one of the same fans you are using, and bring in fresh air with it. that will equalize the pressure.
i think that would be the easier route than installing fans on both appliances.
your forced make up air should not exceed 70% of the main exhaust fans cfm.
I think that was the rule of thumb mike gave. It makes sense in my mind , too much air in and the exhaust won't get it all out. (I cant recall the exact thread)
I wonder if you could build a small closet for the appliances , and have it vented from the main house ?
Mike says make up air should always be passive (not forced by anything). My smoke bomb tests agree with his claims.
This is to avoid the CO2 and CO yes?
Not to dismiss the concern but it seems like the emissions would be pretty minor relative to the amount of air flowing with the exhaust fan on. If the danger is something else please tell me what it is.
