Re: minority progression thread
I like the sculpted characters a whole bunch. I have not bothered to sell many pipes in 6 months but if I did they have to be worked and sculptured like those.
The pipe place I sell to i give wholesale prices in $100+, but sell about half price. I seen a store mark my work up 420% and was a little pissed.
I have a couple stores that are good and a couple stores run by cocksuckers. I just dont go back if they are cheap pricks loaded up on China glass.
One hitters are always in demand, keep a dozen+ at all times. Spoons are a pain in the ass dress them up pretty with some artwork like you have been doing so they have real value. The stores have huge thick ISO dicro cane spoons 6 inches + long with 7 marbles 3/4" in size. 1/4pound + for $19. impossible to make those and make money.
I'm making fewer pipes and more jewelry, I can sell it to minors or old grannies.
I would love to make rigs and recyclers but my skills are not there yet, Id like a bigger kiln but with glass sales so nominal I dont see it happening.
There is no point in investing in more equipment till what I have pays for itself. Ill buy glass and propane till it is making money.
Some of the nicer rigs I see in the shops are made on a lathe, realy on point and just over my head and skill level.
Its nice you have your own style with the pipes, they dont look like the typical prodo.

Re: minority progression thread
good info, well see im in Mississippi and i feel it might be different here, theres not many hippies to sell to and i say hippie in the most respectable way, they just want heady pieces, no marbles pendants or sculptures, all those sculptures are mine bc i cant spend 2 hours on a quarter sized spider and not sell it for atleast $20, there just not big on jewelry here, those rayguns sat untouched on the counter for months until the shop cat knocked them down. I know how you feel about the kiln situation, unfortunately i have a top loader so im VERY limited on what i can do. I know a top loader will definitely put a ceiling on what i can make regarding rigs. I too have made my number of tokers and downstems, probably thousands but thats only when my shop needs them, i get paid $1 a piece for each one so its pretty sweet when i can do em. I would love to see some of your work.
