On an unrelated note, I really wonder how many potential customers see the name Eu glass and don't even click through to read more, just assuming the company to be in the European Union. I know I ignored it the first few times I saw it thanks to that.

This is beautiful you guys. This could really help a lot of people out! I've ordered multiple pallets of tubing from you guys and every time I get glass from you about 4-6 inches of each tube is totally unusable. Little dings and scratches on every tube! The way us33 packs glass into boxes it almost seems forced and totally not cared for. The glass packed in the box at an angle [/]
What type of quality control does EU have over the product you're shipping out? You guys should ditch the US 33 and get schotte back.

EU glass just changed their pricing to a per-pound calculation. For at least some sizes, the case price is now 50+% higher than it was before they changed to a per-pound calculation. The fact that this price change came immediately following their announcement of "free shipping" is interesting. Unless I'm missing something, the whole free shipping thing combined with the price-hike appears to be a marketing tactic to get publicity while rolling their shipping costs directly into their pricing.

This system is great for the poor guys who buys single rods and tubes. Its going to help me a lot.

That's all well and good, and I'm happy that it helps people, really, I am. The business practices are what bothered me about the whole thing. To be completely honest, I don't really use US33 with any frequency so I don't have much of a dog in the fight. I'd use them when they'd offer free shipping at their old prices and I needed a case here or there. It was great to be able to get a case of something cheaper than Schott and better quality than Chinese, at a price point that fell in-between and had no shipping tacked on. When they first announced free shipping forever, I honestly didn't understand how they could possibly afford to do it.

For me, the issue was the principle of the whole "Free Shipping Forever" announcement, followed by a "Simplify your price calculation" announcement, both of which were presented without any mention of price hikes. In fact, the free shipping announcement literally said, "Don't waste your precious working capital on shipping," and the per-pound pricing announcement couched it as a pricing "simplification."

It was only after they got called out multiple times on social media that they claimed what was going on was "an end to introductory pricing." That's totally fine if that's what their business model requires (although a now-deleted post by one of the folks from UST seemed to question the validity of that "need"...but again, it's EU's business and their call to make). However, for me, the fact that rather than simply making a single announcement or a series of announcements declaring an end to the old introductory pricing and the roll-out of the new per-pound pricing with shipping included, they chose to engage in what feels like a bait and switch, turns me off from considering them going forward.

If you want to buy a case, and it has increased more in price than the shipping would be, they are making more money, but acting like they are giving you a deal, to put it plainly.

I ordered a hunk of 50 x 5 mm and some 10 mm rod today.

2,680 miles shipping so UPS will put the packing to the test. Its about as far away as I can get.

I hope to make my first vac stack tubing.

As long as my order shows up in solid hunks I will be happy. The price is good.
