Is there a way to use the search engine to only show things from a certain sub group?

For example, can you enter a key word to only search through threads on glass color talk, with out showing posts from all the other tabbed sections?

Yes. go to that room and above the list of threads use that search box instead of the one farther up the page.

alternatively, go to advanced search and enter the info there.

Works the same for a thread, as well. At the top of the thread in the same spot there's a "search thread" option.
