    Default venturi vac diy

I'm looking for pictures of your glass venturi that you vacuum outer sleeves with.

I know of one on the west coast I used , I don't think they are at the shop yet.

For those that don't understand, you put this glass venturi onto the tip of a hand torch, then open the oxygen. The oxygen flowing out of the torch creates vacuum via the venturi, creating negative pressure on the blow hose you connect to the third hole.

Anyone with a picture of their glass version would be excellent. Any discussion about hole sizes , or increased /decreased pressure by design is also welcome

I love my current tiny dust devil vac set up. Unfortunately its on the chopping block as I try to minimize what I carry in my car as I travel. Even tho a glass venturi may waste o2, its tiny size is perfect for the travel kit.

This wiki explanation has a picture of one. That one looks fragile by design. I know the one I used was some type of tube in a tube with a nipple on the side for the hose.

    I know I could just try. I don't have time to r.n.d.

I don't need it to be pretty. I just need it to work well.

Rnd should be almost none existing, just make a constriction and add the vac hose there. Any flow through will create a vacuum. Great idea with using the o2 from hand torch

Riley has a pic of one in this thread. Steve bates had a pic on the first page but unfortunately it’s unavailable. Hope this helps somewhat

With the cost of oxygen...it sounds suspect.

There are easier ways, especially if you have an air compressor nearby: http://www.air-vac-store.com/mm5/mer...egory_Code=AVR

    These work very well.

jeez, ya think? many people use either LOX or an HVLP system that would make this a non issue. although i do agree that if said person is using high pressure cylinders that cost $30-$70 a piece (airgas rapes us up here) this would be cost prohibitive.

Even so, you are still throwing away oxygen, changing your flame chemistry, and affecting the heat base of your piece.

correct, this does "waste" oxygen. but if you don't have a vacuum, this is a band aid that will get you through the project. something that will work for the time being.

all of these are super minimal, forsure its not gonna do anything to the flame chemistry or up on the bench or you have other issues to address. I dont get any breathing with a handtorch on my main regulator
