One side is for vacuum and the other side is for inert gas. Used for air sensitive chemistry. I'll post more pics tomorrow.

    NICE SET UP!!! BEAUTIFUL SHOP!

I stepped away from glass for about 4 years and recently bought a new phantom. I want to make goblets so bad I need to find a class soon... I am just having fun getting familiar with the movement of glass again .. its like it was yesterday for the most part but still little rusty

Thanks for the nice comments. It's a University glass workshop and when i started 8 years ago it was in real need of upgrades/refurbishment. So far, every year i have been able to do a bit to the workshop with the help of my boss, the academic staff and money from non University customers. I don't really make pipes anymore unless it's for friends, any spare time i get now, i like to make wine glasses, just need to find somewhere to sell them.

I think i made this one about 9 years ago, haven't taken pictures of any recent pipes.

Hoping to post some pics of a multi sample unit with automated vacuum activated valves that i made a couple of years ago. Need to get permission from the proffesor i made it from, not hopefull as he didn't put my name on the paper his group wrote for the experiment. The scientific glassblower nearly always gets left of the publications, even though without the complex glassware we create they wouldn't be able to prove or produce anything. There's a lot to be learned from the scientific and artistic fields working together.

I met a guy when I was in illinois a while back I think his name was Fred. He bought a full Lot of scientific glass and I think the Tube he has was super thick wall maybe 24mm tube with like 8mm wall and vacuumed silver fume through the tube and formed pieces/ pipes from it and the lines and just wild colors of fuming he got from it was awesome looking.... I have always wanted to get just one tube of that and try some things..
