Chinese Opaque White - Where did it go?

I stopped using it because of the grainy texture. Switched to the "Jade White"...

My pieces have been better from a production standpoint, as as a monetary value.

I've been trying to work with this new Jade white. How do you deal with the semi-transparency of the color? I've been using it to learn, and it's somewhat difficult to see when you do things like implosions.

last summer i could not find any of the regular old style china white to save my life, but i did find it in 15mm rods (mountain glass). so i bought two 4' rods of it, and just pull it down to whatever size i need before using it.
the striking/magic white just isn't quite as opaque as the old stuff is. it does seem to be perfectly safe under encasement though.

i never cared for the consistency but like the fact that it is so hard to boil. very soft, gathers faster than other colors

I saw the Opaque china white on the way out and grabbed 10lb's of 7mm rod. I have some of the striking white but have not tried it yet. I don't like the jade white, but star and sno white are fine replacements. I got a couple pounds of an unknown white recently that was super boily so I tend to sleeve it with 8mmx 1mm tube, you can barely tell it has a clear coat it's so thin.

except for the colors of those 2 are totally different. transparent vs opaque...

next you're probably going to tell me that mushrooms are "like" acid...it isn't and people need to stop saying things "like" that.

No, I am right and you are not. I said sounds like, not: is exactly the same, indistinguishable in any way.

And yes, a mushroom high and an acid high are like each other, much more than say a glue sniffing high and a weed high. ( i don't sniff glue).

When it comes to implosions, or anything that needs to be completely opaque, I use Star White.

I like the jade white.

The new “striking white” (the grainy one) is trash. It Cracks after coming out of the kiln looking fine.

I tested it - Liked the workability, liked the color, and the piece came out fine.

Was about to order a case of it, when my wife sent me a video of it cracking on the table as she watched. (Piece was 2 - 3 weeks old. New opaque white sandwiched between clear)

wow! that's wild that she was actually able to get video of it happening!

hehe I encased some of the old white one time...... it exploded violently several days later. Part of it was on a rig that had been annealed and sold, the other half was just extra that got bench cooled, but they both blew up roughly a week after being made. The non excased white gave me no problems though.
