Swim,
You are looking for 16" length. What width do you need? I may have some options for you.
I want to have like a blanket of lathe tape to put over the part of my U lathe that is catching the most heat. I dont have much swing on my machine and worry about heat from doing small vac stacks, and just working over it hours on end in general. Does anyone have a roll of some stupid large lathe tape they would sip me a 16 inch chunk off of? I am paypal ready

Welding blanket is either ceramic fiber or glass fiber. I have used the ones from hazard fraud in ovens holding close to 1,000f for years at a time. If you feel it's off gassing (smells strange) you can cook a piece in the kiln at 1,000f and it will burn off all binders.
I found tin foil with a air space behind it does a good job of deflecting heat. I mentioned the welding blanket (refrasil) because you inquired about lathe tape. Either one should work fine.
I am open to suggestions and options, Lux, what is your widest option? I would like a 16x16 piece or bigger

You could always hit up Ben Moreau on FB for a kiln mat in whatever size you need. Not the intended purpose but would probably hold up in the long term. If that's too pricey a fiberglass or carbon fiber welding blanket would probably work great.
"Don't get me wrong gtts are nice, but I'm more about that Issac Hayes smooth talking flame over the "come here boy you got a purty mouth" prison sex flames that gtts are known for."
Swim,
That is a lot wider than I was expecting. My largest lathe tape is only like 3" wide and I have refrasil rolls but it is only 5"-6" inches wide. I was thinking you just wanted to lay a piece across the bed but it sounds like you want it draped over the whole base. The welding blanket that somewhere linked above looks like a good option. find one of Harbor Freight 20% off coupons and that is really cheap.
thanx guys, got what I need

You can use a stapler to hem the edges once you figure out the size you want. You can also cut a piece for the bottom of your kiln.
