Default Help me choose a new kiln

Alright ladies and gentlemen, I’m ready for an upgrade. I’m trying to decide between a paragon f130, or a skutt mini scarab.

I have power already for either so that’s not a big deal. The skutt calls to me, But it also trips me out a little. Is the opening at the bottom, always being open a non issue? Does that lead to the kiln more frequently kicking on aka is it going to draw way more power to operate? Let me know what y’all would go with if you were buying a new kiln

    Thanks everyone

There is a secondary little shelf on the Scarab meant to rest rods etc on. It is adjustable to allow different diameters of material. You can close it all the way, sealed shut if you have no work in progress, and you are done for the day and annealing.

I own a F120, Which isn't the 130. Though I would go with the Scarab all day personally, I just prefer the controller on my Skutt to the Paragon. Both are well built kilns.

put an order in for the skutt. They call back with I won’t get it till October. D&L had one in stock that just became available like two hours before I called. It was back ordered for like 5 months and when it came time to pay the guy didn’t have the flow. It was meant to be!
