Ever read Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson? The main bad guy's specialty weapon is glass knives, which supposedly have a molecule-thin blade, which cuts through everyones' armor. Not sure how true this is...
Has anyone in here ever tried to make a glass weapon before? I was thinking about it want to try to make a heavy wall gavel with a few spikes pulled on the head of it. You know, just in case...Anyone have pics if you have tried/seen one?

I haven't read that but i have heard of glass being used in a lot of crooked ways. The reason i thought of this is some guy i know got busted over the head with a wild irish rose bottle at a party over some bullshit fight and i was thinking how much that must have sucked. Then i thought about maybe a 4+ mm thick walled spiked borosilicate piece of glass....sounded sort of scary.
gnimelf..... snow crash excelent book.....
um glass can be "sharppend" down to a molecular thickness fairly easiely... compared to may other materials they use glass knives for eye surgery where a precise tiny cut is need to avoid tissue damage... and other aplications... also obsidian knives that have been napped have been with use as some of the oldest tools every made.... there have been alot of glass weapons...
and frankly if you want to make something to budgen some one with just make it solid.... Make a 5-6 inch gather on the end of some 2 inch rod..... aneal properly add spices as wanted... bingo.....
really i just have a couple peices of 1 inch thats more then enough to deter most people from messing with me
Someone on here made a glass knife as well. The search function isn't working for me, so I can't post the link. Hopefully someone will do it...
I saw a full sized battle axe, all clear. Looked super cool.

My Ex-freind and shopmate Hamm made my Other freind and shopmate a full sized battle hammmer for his b'day last year. I'm surprised no pics of that thing ever made it here.

No edge on it, but is this the one?
I was thinking of making a small glass potatoe gun cannon thing. im sure with heavy wall it would work fine without blowing up
When I was in Italy I saw a Jumbo sized replica of a revolver. The Pieces of the gun were of an onyx appearence. beauty.
Here is a series of weapons made by Ben Evers.

This is an immitation of a deer's weapons.
I made a double barrel shotgun about 3 ft. long, solid stock with 25mm tube for the barrels, the baron makes those big swords wonka has at his store.
Brian those antlers are absolutely gorgeous. Did that piece end up being a stand alone, or part of another piece?
