Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Word.
my name is chris. been rippin it up on my bobcat for about 3 months now.
I first got inspired by a guy on Saltspring Island, BC and instantly knew i wanted to make what he made. I've always liked pipes and whatnot in smoke shops but I didnt realize they were handmade works of art.
So I asked myself "where am I going with my life" the answer is GLASS!!
I live near Vancouver, Canada. Im 19. Part Hawaiian, Italian, Chinese, etc etc.

Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Blump- 24, Pullman Washington. First introduced to flame working 5 months ago. I've Had my own torch for about 4 months. Nortel Minor, EX-15 Generator. Work out of my 1br apartment. Have to stick the pets in the bedroom cuz it gets freezing cold in my living room. Crack my sliding glass door to let the propane out and for air exchange and a small wall of snow falls in my house! I love it!

Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Hey Crip,
I was mainly workin with soft glass and limited boro. Started makin' beads, then went to pendants and then to paperweights. it was all solid formed stuff. That gave me the basis to do what I thought was a lot harder..... blown glass. I have worked in Paul Stankard's studio and have known him since 1974 and I can say that I find the stuff I see on this site to be on par with the great glas artists like Paul. Mad respect for all of you guys. You've elevated the glass pipe from a simple funtional piece of glass to a mind blowing art form.
Peace,
Mark

Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
David & Alicia here, Her 5 years on torch, Him 10 minutes on torch (so far). I was a potter for 17 years and woke up one day tired of it, sold the studio, Alicia sold her fused glass studio and now we have a two burner boro studio. My original glassblowing nickname was "Wow, it didn't look that hot when I touched it, would you please get me some more ice?" But now I let things cool longer so we expect to change my name soon.

Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Hey there... been blowing glass for just over a year now and lurking on this forum for several months. I figured it was finally time for my first post - I haven't posted yet because I haven't had a question that wasn't already answered in the forum. 98% of all my info has come from this site, which has been a huge help since I've never seen anyone else blow glass in person, so I just want to say thank you to everyone who contributes - to openly share info & techs is such a selfless thing to do - I will forever be in your debt!
Oh yeah, I'm an electrician, 31 yrs. old, living in Stratford Ontario Canada.
