    Default CC_BOBs work thread

Well since everyone else is doing it....

    First a little about me.

I started working with glass when I was 10 and worked on it for a couple of years making unicorns, ships, bird baths, humming birds and the typical stuff you see. The only color I ever seen was cobalt so everything I made was spun or solid clear. I loved working with glass but I was pushed to make things to sell, go to craft shows and all that crap. This took all of the fun out of it and made it feel like a job so when I was about 16 (after working on and off, usually cramming before a craft show) I just stopped, besides chasing girls became more important.

I then got married, built a house, had a kid, and all that. A couple years ago I dug out my torches and got set up again. I then found this site and started reading up and was amazed by the colors and techniques I was seeing. I bought some color and started playing around.

Unlike most of those on this site glass is now just a hobby (more like a passion) for me and not my occupation. This has it's good points and it's bad points but mostly good (for me anyway). The good is that it is never "work", its all PLAY time for me I make whatever I want when ever I want. The bad however is I never truly get good at any one thing, I don't make 100 of anything (nor do I want to) so I do not get to the point where I am truly proficient. This is not the best way to learn but it is best for me and keeps it fun. The only customers I have are a flock of nieces, friends and family (I give almost everything away).

Any way here's some of my crappy pics (my camera does not have a macro setting).

The marbles are sweet too! Are the first ones with the oyster knife? Def good to see some of your work and am looking forward to seeing more. And we really gotta get together soon now that I got a bigger o2 tank. I'm crankin the shit outa my torch now!! Talk to you later!!

Thanks Keith, Ya I used the oyster knife, but you can use anything to push the glass around. It's just comfortable to use.

And Crip, some of that stuff is coming your way. Not the checked vortex, LOL, the wife said it was pretty that way.

Oh yeah, I dunno if this won't work without a macro setting but why don't you try making a light box? Just a box, white t shirt and white paint or poster board will work. I made mine out of wood, just cuz I had the extra time. Just a suggestion if you start putting up more pics. It really helps and is very convenient!

Good to see some of your work. I too have been making glass for fun for the past 8 monts or so, But I am going back into production mode with it again. Gonna see if I can make some money without makin pipes. Sure has been fun to make whatever kinds of things come to mind though. Keep up the good work and keep posting your goods!!
    When I analyze the stench
to me it makes a lot of sense!

Bob - your stuff is great! The marbles are sweet and the shaping and colors on your sculptural work are terrific. More eye candy please!

OK, keep in mind this is a hobby so I only get to make things when I have extra time (not much lately).

These are both sitting on a 6x6 in case you want a reference for size.

First is a tiara I made for my niece, she just turned 3. It's for the shelf, not to wear.

Second item is a humming bird I made for the GLDG birthday. The HBird is just setting in the flower, kind of hanging there. It's gotta be shipped so I was afraid it would break.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate it. I'm never happy with anything I make, I always see what's wrong with it or what I should of done differently.

Keith, glad to hear you're getting wheels. What are you getting? I'd be down for another road trip, just let me know when

One of my best "customers" showing off the tiara I made for her, she has quite the collection started. I have 6 little nieces who only want things from fairy tales (princesses, unicorns, ballerinas, etc..), and only one older one that likes jewelry.

Finally got some time to fire up the torch a bit this weekend. I've been spending all my free time getting my plow tuck (72 Chevy SWB) together. It's done now so hopefully more time for glass.

First up is a little pendant I made for a lady I work with, actually for her son (he loves planes).

Second up is a marble I made for the guy that first got me into glass. Yea, the pics suck, flower is actually yellow and black LOL.
