3 x Heathway Lathes and 1 x unidentified lathe for sale

Hi,
I have 3 x Heathway lathes for sale. All are in full working order, well maintained and recently recalibrated. I also have a fourth unidentified lathe for sale. Our workshop is closing down - hence the sale.
Two of the Heathway lathes come with original manuals. The lathes are currently still connected but can be palletised for shipping. The lathes are in County Durham, UK.
I will post the details of the Heathway Lathes (1 large, 1 medium, 1 small) soon, as I get the images and information prepared. Anyone desperate for pre post information feel free to contact me on rich@bydaybreak.com.

The first lathe is unidentified. There are images below. Can anyone identify it for me?
The lathe has been well maintained and runs true, it has been most recently used for high precision glassware.

I am looking for £2k for it. Buyers pays for shipping. It is connected at the moment to validate working order but can be easily palletised for shipping.

I think your aiming to high with your prices. if they had good scroll or s & p chucks and weren't as old but even then price is still to high.

Yes you are right on the 3 bigger machines , the U.S. Market has settled down on bigger machines and the heathways are pretty large weight wise .

I have seen major artist selling there heathways for reasonable prices with newer chucks .


Also the conversion on the dollar does not help the matter .

The conversion is the other way if buying from the states. You get more sterling to the dollar since the Brexit vote. Around 10% cheaper than 2 weeks ago!

Are you from Dunelm scientific then I presume? If so does this mean the scientific shop is closing or being reduced in size?

I'm afraid I'd have to agree on the price. I was looking at a lathe similar to the first you posted here in the UK and they were looking for £1k. I know someone else in the UK who bought his for less than £500. I presume that's why you are posting them here to hit the American market but I don't think that market is what it was even 6 months ago, plenty of folks confident enough to pick up brand new American made lathes. Combined with the fact that the pipe market is currently focused on scaled down more complex pieces quite a bit means these larger machines are not in as much demand.

It is indeed Dunelm Scientific, down to lamp workers now.

Like a classic car the Heathways only gain in value. They don't make em like this anymore. These baby's have been grafting for over 30 years in our ownership, servicing has been carried out by a local engineer from the Corning days, they run like the day they were bought!.Cosmetic wear and tear over the years yes but real work horses.

I have no pressure to sell just too much kit at the moment and not enough Lathe Workers around! Unfortunately a dying breed in the UK.
If anyone does see or have one for less then £500 let me know - I will take it on immediately.

If only this were the case! Classic cars have the benefit of a much larger market, along with choice and provenance at virtually every price point, and even then it's a crap shoot. If you could get all 4 lathes to me and wanted to trade for a 69 Daimler Sovereign (left hand drive for US market) I'd trade you straight across :P

edit: This is an old picture of it... we stripped it down, dipped the body and chassis to a deep blue (still a factory color) and have new leather and chrome for it.. still needs a new wiring harness, glass, and dash work...
